Barry J. article discussing the internal power struggle

Honestly think about it, what coach would want that? If you are a coach on the hot seat are you going to want someone to come in that would possibly fire you? No coach would be onboard with that

None - at least not a qualified Alpha coach. Mario wouldn't either.

The only reason we're even talking about it is because everyone is quite aware how underqualified and unprepared Manny is to run a program.

If this position for Highsmith was to strictly oversee football for James, or in place of James, then fine. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

agreed but no coach wants to be told what to do, how to coach, recruit, etc. so i get it from his pov. that said, he should be fired tomorrow

If my options are take the help or goodbye, perhaps I am going to take the help.

Let me put it a different way; Manny should ask Randy how easy it is to find another gig after you fail miserably.

The idea of a GM who has co equal power is a problem. The idea of an active aDmin staff who co leads recruiting from a talent screening perspective and who evaluated Diaz based on who he hires and fires and who hires and fires the head coach is workable and manny could have no say in it.

Almost all HC have deals that give them final say over staff but manny needs to be held to a standard and when he constantly hires bums, he should be fired for wasting our time.

Agree. Any structure where the HC and GM both report to the AD will be a big problem. The HC should report to the GM, otherwise it will not work.

They look like those dorks sitting by themselves in the cafeteria playing Pokémon or some sh*t

Assistant/Associate AD - Director of Football Recruiting/Operations or something to that effect may be amicable to all concerned. The details of how much authority Zo would have might be the biggest hurdle. Manny would be foolish not to take advantage of an opportunity to align himself with the type of experience, knowledge, and insight Zo could bring to the table.
A real man like Highsmith would never submit to an arrangement where he reports to a lispy slow-witted 6-7 loser with wrists smaller in circumference than Alonzo’s fingers. Never gonna happen.

Fake: Come on in, Alonzo, with your vast NFL experience, and Lil’ Lisper is going to interview you. One thing I ask is that you don’t bend down and look him in the eyes. If he likes you, your title will be Liaison to the Lisper. Whadda ya think?

Highsmith: Bytch, I’ll kill you and that little **** if you ever call me again.

No. The problem is Blake James is the AD. He isn't qualified to be the AD.

He should not be in this position to begin with. He is self-inflicted cancer. He and the BOTs are doing what the NCAA never could do...destroy the program.
I certainly don’t disagree with that assessment!

I really don't understand how Manny has ANY power. It's not like he'd be able to leave here and get another HC job. After you show incompetence here as a HC, you're done forever. Just look at the past clowns we've had here. Coker won a NC and the best he could do was UTSA. This job here isn't that hard. It just shines a brighter light on the nincompoops who we've employed.

Which one of them is saying it is time to end this self-inflicted cancer and change the process? Which one of them is suggesting the firing of Blake James? Which one of them is looking to reach out to Danny White?

Blake’s a good fundraiser bro , hence a great ad. Well , at Miami he is.

What is Diaz worried about? Highsmith isn't necessarily going to fire him even if he has a 7 win season next year. Highsmith is going to evaluate if the team is making progress, even if it's not happening as fast as the fans want. If Diaz is making progress and actually changing the culture, he has nothing to be concerned about, even if he doesn't win the ACC coastal next year.

The only reason I can see Diaz resisting this is that he knows he isn't qualified and doesn't want to be exposed. Here's the thing Diaz doesn't realize. The reason the fan base wants him fired has little to do with fans having unrealistic expectations of a coach in his 1st year. Its that fans have seen this movie enough times to recognize immediately when a coach is out of his depth.
