Barry Article On The Qbs

That has nothing to do with a college athlete not acting like an idiot at a prolific university. Baby Jon had no business being our QB coach but no excuse for players acting like 13 year olds

“Baby Jon had no business being our QB coach but no excuse for players acting like 13 year olds”

You don’t think that the first part of that sentence has something to do with the second part??

The Richts are gone. Not even worth discussing them any more. By UF kickoff, these 3 QBs will have had 9 months to rebound and show they deserved their 4-star ratings (Perry and Williams). Whether he gets his waiver or not, Martell is going to be like Willis in 2018, push the rest of the pack so hard that whoever survives is much stronger. If he is eligible, IMHO, it's a forgone conclusion Martell beats them all out. Either way, I agree that at least one is gone by end of summer, possibly two.

Only problem transferring out so late in the summer is that you lose the opportunity to start somewhere else, if you’re qualified to do so. I’m thinking if Perry doesn’t get the top position that he will walk through the doors. Same with Cade - FSU badly needs bodies at the QB spot, and with Daddy’s connections plus the way Willie runs the program, I’m sure he’ll have all the *** he can eat in Tally.

FSU just got 2 transfer QBs.

I really dont get why everyone assumes all QBs will leave if they dont start. Cade especially makes no sense. He'll have to sit out 2019 if he leaves, might as well stay and get his degree this year like Sherrifs did.

I agree the loser of Williams/Perry (so Perry) will transfer

Williams lost focus because he was buried at #4 as soon as fall camp started. He went from being impressive in the spring to buried on the depth chart behind guys he was better than. It's hard to fault him for losing focus.

You must be joking...pouting & slacking off is not how a back up QB gets the starting job.

Don't confuse being demoralized by bad coaching with a lack of work ethic. Good coaches see their players struggling and motivate them to do better.
It’s true that Richt Jr was the worst QB coach on the planet but motivation comes from within. You will know very quickly, probably by the end of Spring if Williams can turn it around. As was said by others I don’t think all of these guys will be around by the time the regular season starts next year!

For real. Imo the guys had issues but I think something that didn’t help them was a probable total lack of respect for lil Jon

I wanted Jon fired the moment Mark picked him. It doomed us from the start. That said, it does not excuse these three behaving like punks. Manny needs to watch for the first one the make the smallest mistake and summarily dismiss him from the team regardless of which. They need object lesson to be men worthy of being a Cane or be the crap gone.

Perry just gets caught with his minor silly shît in the public. The real head case might be williams. He did all that flip flopping in hs, he mailed it in once he knew he wasn't playing and got fat, and was bout to transfer.

Question, we won NCs with five different QBs, which one ever did any minor silly **** in public? I’d go with the incoming freshman before these punks. They are not going to change.

To a point, yes. Have you ever been in a position where you knew you were not going to get a fair chance no matter what you did? You will be demoralized and you won't give 100%.

Maybe Jarren didn’t get a fair shot in camp but it makes sense not to throw a true freshman in against LSU. However, if Jarren would have stayed working, Richt was scrambling at QB by the end of the season.

Richt mismanaged the QB’s but Jarren should have worked to make it hard for Richt to keep him on the bench

lol it’s funny how y’all said it was all Richts fault with the QB situation, and he had a room of 13 year olds...
You think for one second Richt JR taught Kosi HOW to read defenses?

Kid was obviously unprepared, and he obviously had no one to help him prepare.

Whatever flaws the prior staff had, it's obvious there wasn't a single QB on this roster that made it impossible for Richt not to start him.

Don't buy the unfair competition angle. If Willians or Perry had put in a ton of extra work and established themselves as a leader, the outcome could and probably would have been different them.

Plenty of laziness and ineptitude to go around last season, it didn't fall on just one player or coach. It was an epic fail from top to bottom.
In post season interviews richt said Williams would be given the opportunity to compete next season, implying Jarren was told he would not be starting his freshman year.

And listen to what Diaz said of Metocha: “When you start looking at the intangibles of the way we want to build our quarterback room … He’s a gym rat, smart, tough, loves ball, wants to think the game out, a guy we thought would really help us reshape the quarterback room.”

Love the quote on Tate & the quote from Diaz on Matocha, I'm certain he'll end up Redshirting this season & who knows what he'll do in the next 3 years here, but the key phrases is "gym rat, tough & loves ball".

In today's era of college football, you HAVE to have a QB that absolutely loves the game & spend countless hours studying film looking for the tendencies of the defense. Talent can only get you but so far, you need to have an edge & that edge comes from preparation. There should never be any surprises when you step out their on the field, every look & coverage the Defense gives you, if you've studied you shoulda seen it already.

That's why I'm a big proponent of always recruiting QB's from Texas, the TX football scene runs college level Uptempo Spread offenses in HS, so those QB's are being prepped to run those style of offenses from 7th & 8th grade. By the time they hit HS even as Freshman & Soph they're already ahead of the curve, which is why so many of them transition easily & tear it up in college.

Plus TX QB's have a sh*t ton of pressure on them in HS, if they mess up or fail they have to deal with their angry helicopter dad coming down on'em because he can't live vicariously through him lol

Elite post from an elite poster.

And Richt said we didn’t need a QB in the 2019 class. What earth were the two Richts living on to think the QB room was in good shape?

I mean somewhat I guess but you can’t make excuses for them acting like they were last year. Just because you have a **** coach doesn’t mean you can act like a **** head

We all can agree the maturity wasn’t there with Weldon, Perry, Williams last year.

Young guys, young guys in South Florida makes mistakes here and there. Coach Diaz has put the QB room on notice and this is the adversity they need.

The maturation we are looking for is possibly happening day by day. How they overcome the adversity of new arms and new accountability with the QB room will show who is ready to be QB1 at QBU!!!
The maturity wasn’t there because they either recruited the wrong guys or couldn’t get through to them. Again, it’s all about leadership. Kids will respond to proper leadership. Our QB Coach was a rube, and our HC retired 6 years ago.

Sometimes your employer is so **** bad you don't want to do jack for them. Man, half this board would have quit and gone somewhere else. I sure as **** would have, rather than playing in that dumpster fire O. It was THE most illogical O I have ever witnessed. Congratulations, you get to start and be embarrassed, because this O will make you look very, very bad. ***** that.
