Back in the day, Jimmy Johnson bullied Janice Joplin

Still love ya, Jimmy, but come on...
This thread had potential to go your way.. until this. Come on, what? Her ****?

Jimmy wasn't bullying anyone. He was fostering her artistic abilities as he clearly had an eye for talent even as a teenager. If Ol' "Beat Weeds" had been socially embraced in high school do you really think she goes onto any musical success and we even know her name today? Jimmy, the saint that he is, knew that ostracism was the only path to artistic greatness for her and he did what he had to do even knowing that 60 years later it might be misunderstood. The guy is just a giver and not a taker.

That aside, I remember an interview a long time ago where he said that she smelled horrible. That he didn't believe that she routinely bathed.

I wasn't there and can't know for sure, but having met Jimmy Johnson and had a rather long conversation with him, I believe these allegations to be Fake Newz. And I'd be willing to wager a bottle of Dennis' whiskey on it.

Jimmy: "So Janice, you like flowers?"
Janice: "Yes Jimmy, I do." (slightly blushing)
Jimmy: "Have you tried bathing in them?"

A star is born, at that very moment.

Never mind the last part. Just looked her up and thought she was a dude none of the 87 canes would touch that with a 9 foot poll. I doubt Jimmy smashed that either. If by "groped" they meant smacked and told to GTFO anytime she came anywhere near the football team, I believe that.
I was bout to warn you but you saved yourself. Back in the day, hippie, bestnick and bikers chicks were easy but seriously nasty and not in a good way. Fake lib middle and upper class were much cleaner and just as easy -- they need to act out what they preached in effort to convert you.

Gotcha/cancel culture is out of control.

I'm a liberal, socialist, tree hugging hack, and I would be horrified at some of the beliefs and things that I said when I was in high school. I'd like to believe we all would.

Jimmy Johnson is from Port Arthur Texas. He was born in the 40s. There is a pretty high likelihood that he used the N word multiple times growing up, and god knows what kind of homophobic slurs he uttered. It is absolutely idiotic and *** backwards to judge him for something said or done 50 years ago in High School.

People grow, learn, and evolve. This standard we want to hold people to where they must be perfect is unrealistic.

Funnily enough, theres an incredibly ironic famous quote from Joplin about why she feels she was bullied that would get her in a ton of hot water if it were widely circulated today.

Well, considering she's been dead since 1970.
