That was close. I wonder who that school was.

I wonder if Manny told him to hang on he was going to try and get him back.

Kudos to Williams attorney.

Not even close to being a comparable example. Zion is with the team, has been going to practises even if not fully participating. He’s been going to meetings, conditioning, doing everything else. Why would you even say this?
Game install for Bama has only just started this week. That is why I ask. Not being a **** here.

This is a perfectly fine way to feel about this mess. If it was anyone I knew my assumption would be hit assaulted her, full stop. We’ve all known girls in this situation, or one similar. I’m extremely conflicted on the facts, honestly, and I think anyone not celebrating this has a right to do so. I’ve got plenty of IRL examples of this being a bad guy doing bad things and getting away with it, I don’t blame you at all for preferring he would've stayed gone.

I also trust that due diligence was done on the administration’s part. Miami doesn’t give two craps about football outside of the walls of the Hecht, and inside the walls Avantae was a talented but unproven player and person. I have to trust they’re blind liars who care about the sport above all else (which has never been the case), or they found enough reason to bring him back.
I had heard that Manny and the coaches had wanted him back but that it was up to the higher ups to decide if they wanted to let Avantae back into school. Football coaches are often the types who’ll ignore anything as long as the kid can play. The brass at UM is NOT of that opinion though. I would have to venture that the case for Avantae must have been pretty strong if it convinced the non-football crowd to take him back.

I’m driving in the car so I haven’t read the entire chain yet, but I just want to say this:

The University, not Manny, let him back in.

No rational human being would condone beating up a pregnant woman.

The fact that this liberal university let him back in should, IMO, at least get him the benefit of the doubt.

Others like Cribby obviously know more than me. Someone (maybe @rok) talked about a family member being abused or possibly even killed (my apologies, I can’t recall). Legit gripe. There is obviously risk in taking him back This move is a big leap of faith from a university that doesn’t usually do this kind of stuff.

As I said in another thread, the Saban video flipped me to team “bring him back.” IMO, there can’t be a shorter leash: no hot **** (even weed), no (even legal) guns, all that. IMO, you gotta sacrifice some constitutional rights for this scholarship. But, that said, I’m all for giving him a 2nd chance.

I hope one day we bump this thread and the stuff Saban said applies to Tae.

Im jumping into this thread here - did not read the previous 8 pages.

As much as it pains me to say anything positive about Blake James, kudos to him for signing off on this move. This is the type of decision that politician types never make simply because a second failure from Avantae Williams is often viewed as a failure of the AD and others in leadership. UM leadership showed me something today.

Now excuse me while I go wash my hands and face and wipe my keyboard down with isopropyl alcohol. lol

Moreover, that showed some real maturity on the part of Avantae Williams. Having 15 football teams reaching out to him yet still holding pat until UM worked through the issue must have been trying for him.

15 schools absolutely contacted him and let him know "Yeah Avantae, you know UM is trying to keep a clean image down there so you are all but gone. We will welcome you with open arms!" Smh. Glad UM didnt fall for the okie-doke. NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND to those other schools!

Avantae's lawyer did a great job from beginning to end. I have a feeling he is about to become the consigliere for UM athletics. Everybody will use this guy and trust me there will be others whenever we are talking about 18-22 year old testosterone driven men. Well done counselor.

Nope , he’s been a disappointment. But hes still been the best guy at his position. Safety has been arguably the most consistent group since spring.
Knowing what you do about the Williams' situation and UM's original position, on a scale of 1-10 how surprised are you with the reinstatement?

ITU already has a pod out saying they believe he overtakes Gurvan as the starting safety by some point this season (they estimated around game 5)...will be interesting to see how it shakes out but this is def huge for the safety room
