Aussie style punting !

Nothing wrong with the Aussie style and we really haven't had problems in the past. It all comes down to Baumann letting the Indiana player run right by him withput impeding his progress. All he had to do is bump him hard or block him. He failed to do his job and that's one of the reasons we lost. It's very simple to say the least.

That is 100% on his immediate coach who should be noticing this and telling him to kick the **** ball quicker
87 is catching all the heat but this crap burns me up. All year I’m like “ this guy acts like he’s strolling in the park when he punts “. As somebody in here said “ we almost had multiple punts blocked this year”.

I didn’t read this thread whatsoever, but Bauman’s head was saying don’t leave the shield bc that’s how guys cut underneath and split the shield. Problem was he’s too stupid to realize it was punt safe and they barely had 4 threats.

And it’s half on Joyce bc he needs to kick behind his shield, not drift

All this detail is the kind of thing you need to pay attention to if you want to win a NC. People have been giving Mario s*** for not putting enough energy into ST but you can't let ANY area be neglected. In fact, it's not just about not neglecting, it's about making it a strength.

Exactly!!!! It’s so slow developing, he has to have better situational awareness on where he is on the field when getting ready to punt !! Made me so upset !!!

The punt got off in 1.9 seconds. You should never be any faster than that because then your ball is beating the coverage to the return man.

1.9-2.1 seconds is perfect. It's aussie style but I'm thinking the snap rolled him further to the right than he wanted to go.

For the love of everything, Can we please stop with the running style Aussie Punts??
At times this season he came so close to getting it blocked and last night it got us !!

Just catch and boot the **** ball! His punts were bad last night . View attachment 354207

Nonsense.

And that is the case, regardless of whether I sat next to Lou Hedley at the game (I did).

The problem was Bauman sweeping this guy past him in order to...block the non-existent next guy? Run down the field on punt coverage? Get back to the sidleines to hang out with Ed Reed and Michael Irvin? All of the above?

Lmao Bauman is that you on the OP?! Some of yall are insufferable!! They’re doing this type of punting ALL OVER the country! It gives your guys time to get down there and that is why barely anyone can get returns against us! If they don’t fair catch it, they get smacked!!

Is the direction the punter “rolls out” too predetermined? If so, why aren’t the blockers also moving in that direction?

Alex Bauman is the WOAT transfer player. When he wasn’t dropping passes, he was whiffing on blocks

I'm not hero...nor am I claiming to be, but I saw Indiana setting that block up about 2 or 3 punts prior.
They didn't set up a block! They were in punt safe. They weren't attempting to block the punt. If they were they'd have had more than 4 players step across the LOS! Guys just didn't block!

IU's staff didn't set up a **** thing. That was 100% on Miami not blocking. They let a right edge threat run straight in when you have a rugby style punter who moves to his right!

Bauman deserves all the heat! You have to collision the edge threat. If you think that was some genius punt block design by Indiana you're just not seeing what's actually happening on the field. Indiana rushed four players! They were protecting against the fake looking to secure possession. Our players simply didn't block. The dude who blocked the punt was never substantially hit and it wasn't cause all the blockers were occupied! Literally none of them were.

I know this helps some of yall sleep better blaming it one or two guys for a loss . But the fact is there was plenty of plays where a bunch of people messed up including our coordinators. Right down to the punt being fair caught at the five which put us in that awful field position. It’s likely a touch back if not.

So we can play this game all day. Not one player did this , not one coach. Fact is Indiana made every play late and right decision and we didn’t. That’s their method of operation and why they went 16-0. Miami has been the **** more talented team that beats itself when we lose. Yes Bauman missed a block but we’ve had multiple close calls during the year on punts. On top of that he’s been a bad blocker all year , why is he in there ? Who played him? See how silly this is ? I just think the rugby style punt and taking your sweet time that far pinned back was dangerous. There’s no time to play buried that deep.

There’s plenty of blame to go around, replaying one play won’t change **** . There’s 140 + plays in a game.
