First game for a first time head coach, against the 8th ranked team in the country.

First game for a new staff, against the 8th ranked team in the country.

First game for a freshman quarterback, against the 8th ranked team in the country.

First game for our left and right freshman OTs, against the 8th ranked team in the country.

Our first time quarterback completed 63% of his passes and threw for over 200 yards with 1 TD and ZERO INTs and averaged 7.1 YPA.

Our first time head coach lost to the 8th ranked team in the country by 4 points on a neutral field.

We won the turnover battle, held them to 1.8 YPC (on 28 rushing attempts), and had a shot to win the game at the end.

Was the play-calling perfect? No. And it never will be. But our freshman quarterback threw a TD (should have been two but for drops) and ZERO pics on 30 attempts (and constant pressure) against a darn good defense.

There is plenty of room to improve. And this team will improve tremendously... even over the next 3-4 weeks. The freshman who saw their first real college game action WILL GET BETTER.

We get absolutely rolled by this Gator team last year.

And we will absolutely be better than this 8th ranked Gator team by November of this year.

This team has to learn how to win. Today was a lesson that will shape a better tomorrow. I still remember all the sky-is-falling chicken littles after UW in 2000.

This is going to be a great season... and the start of something very special.

I love how prior to today everyone was laughing at the UF ranking, saying how they where so overhyped, saying their coach was a corch, their QB sucked, their defense is trash, their oline is trash. Now all of a sudden they are a great team and really deserve the number 8 ranking. LOL!

Nope. I wasn’t laughing. I think Mullen is a good (not great) coach, and I thought Florida would be a competitive team in the SEC. We’ll all get to see what happens.

I remember the mob saying LSU was hot garbage after our game last year. I thought they would be competitive in the SEC based on trench talent.

BTW... do we win this game if the refs call a BLATANTLY obvious false start on Florida’s right tackle on 4th and 5 (or 6)?

I mostly agree with your assessment, however right now, it’s a little Pollyanna. I will say we have found our QB.

Yea because they never get the rankings wrong. That team was almost as horrible as us.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say, the first time.

I think barring personnel issues (particularly to their DL), Florida finishes the season ranked between 10-15.

Right now, they are - very literally - the 8th ranked team in the country.

Wow

We’ll find out a lot about Manny quickly, as yes, we came out green in several key areas, but we were startlingly disorganized and sloppy.

One of Manny’s main attributes that people loved was his ability to adapt and adjust. He now has two weeks to go into the lab with Enos and shuffle that OLine. Figure out ways to help the tackles. Eliminate the stupid penalties, etc.

His ability to respond to the errors/deficiencies with this team from week 1 will dictate how we progress.

It won't matter who we put at OL if we continue to run a Wisconsin-esque Big Ten power offense.

I’ll be there to watch this experiment at UNC. The little hope I did have to begin the season went away last night. Hoping they don’t carry the field goals down Franklin street again.

Were you watching the game? Florida will drop at least 4, count on it. This was one of the worst gaytor team we've faced and we blew it. Franks was BEGGING us to take this game.

A team with an actual pulse will take advantage of those turnovers.

I agree with you.

It’s a major reason I wanted a spread guy who spreads the field and splits his OL.

We’re trying to do things offensively as if we have Bama’s deathsquad of talent at OL and we don’t.

This comes back to seeing how these guys adjust.

I hated the Penos hire but porsters were slobbering over Bama guys per usual. One thing though, I didn't see him make any adjustments during the game. Only thing he did was make Martell WR1 in the second half

I’m a documented Enos-denier.

8 yards in the 3rd quarter won’t cut it as far as adjustments go.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say, the first time...

IF UF's O continues the level of play from last night, they are in for a very long and painful SEC schedule.

If you can't see that from the "8th ranked team", you are dumber than most of us thought (you score high marks in that already).

I say it, I mean it.

Sincerely.
