Sometimes a really good defense makes the opposing offense look worse than they actually are.

First games are almost always sloppy.

And this year’s version of UF is better than last year’s team that finished 2nd in the SEC east.

There is plenty of room to improve. And this team will improve tremendously... even over the next 3-4 weeks. The freshman who saw their first real college game action WILL GET BETTER.

We get absolutely rolled by this Gator team last year.

And we will absolutely be better than this 8th ranked Gator team by November of this year.

This team has to learn how to win. Today was a lesson that will shape a better tomorrow. I still remember all the sky-is-falling chicken littles after UW in 2000.

This is going to be a great season... and the start of something very special.

I agree with most of this but my fear is that the gators are overrated. I think they are a top 20 team and we will be a top 15 team by the end of the year.

With you, they suck or the 8th rank team ?, but cannot have it both ways - and by the end of the year they to will be better

I don’t think Florida is a very good teams and being #8 is overranking them, that being said after the Top 5, NUMBERS 6-15 are real interchangeable

Only idiots were saying that. After last year's game vs LSU, I think most of us knew UF would be at least solid.
 
Instead of motivational speakers how about drilling the special teamers about things like when to line-up, the amount of time allotted between plays. You know things like that.

Well, PhilWood did warn us in his opinion before the game. Kudos to him. But look, we all want to be homers for our beloved Canes, and always will. But we’ve also need to face reality as laid out by OP. Bottom line, we found us a QB. OL needs to be built up via recruiting, it’s the only way. Go Canes, on to the next game!

They will be fine. Georgia and Auburn are the teams that will give them problems. Other than that they will win the rest of their schedule. Even with that overrated bum Franks.

I’m guilty of the former, but not the latter. I still think they are overrated. Our young team shot itself in the foot in many cases.

Game zero in year one of a new staff and first time HC.

I lol at the people who bytch incessantly about a few mistakes when they probably make 10x more mistakes in day to day life under much less stressful circumstances.

A culture of mistakes is unacceptable... but it is WAY TOO EARLY to even begin to evaluate that.
 
Florida is overrated. I don’t see this as a “great” season, unless you define great as 8/4 9/3 with a shot at a division title with some smoke and mirrors. I’ll call it a step forward and improvement over last year. Great is 12-1 with a title shot and that’s not happening, we are too inexperienced on the OLine and paper thin at other spots. But hope springs eternal. Williams, DJ and some others showed me flashes last night.
