Athlon Preseason All-ACC Projections

Please list our top 7 man rotation and why you think they will be good enough to make this new offense work.
LT Scaife
Lg Donaldson
C gaynor
Rg reed
Rt Herbert
Should be a good starting unit, talent is there as 4 were Under Armour all Americans consensus 4 star caliber recruits

6- Hillery
7- Nelson
8- Campbell
Nelson seems to be really be impressive and wouldn’t be surprised if he starts some time in the season.

The new scheme and play calling won’t only benefit the qbs and skill positions. It will also help the oline, no longer will they have to block clogged fronts because of the lack of motions or play with a hand behind their back where the defense knows the reoccurring and same play calling tendencies of certain situations that richt loved to do.

First, there aren’t any teams, aside from maybe Alabaga, that go 7 deep with proven studs on the OL.

So you guys should stop acting like we’re any different from most other top 20 programs when it comes to OL talent. We have signed the same level of guys as all the other top 20 teams. It’s impossible for an OL to look good in a busted system. And our system was about as busted as they get.

Quit trying to judge a OL unit in a vacuum. It doesn’t operate that way. It’s wholly dependent on the system they’re put in.

Ok so let’s start with the fact they were highly recruited guys Scaife, Donaldson, Reed and Herbert. Only two have ever contributed on the field so we can only judge off of that. Scaife looked good at RT as a freshman but are we sure he is ready to move to LT and hold it down? Donaldson is a great guard and should stay there.

Herbert has been injured and hasn’t done anything in two years and you want to hitch your wagon to that’s? Reed we have nothing to go on since he didn’t do anything last year. I believe he should be a good guard but time will tell.

Gaynor is a tiny. As much “dog” as he has in him, will he be able to hold up an entire year against top DT? I don’t think so.

Ow into our backups Hahahaha. Hillary has done anything in multiple years, Nelson is a true freshmen will Little overall football experience and Campbell is a tweener that we don’t know where he first Tackle or Guard.

There is no way you can truly feel good about that unit heading into the season. You are delusional if so.

Hopefully the scheme can help protect our weakest unit on the team.

So you are simply going off their high school ranking and change in system that will all of the sudden makes this unit good? Weak answer. Only two have even played snaps in college (Scaife and Donaldson) it’s our weakest unit and hopefully the scheme can hide it long enough to get some wins.

You can’t have it both ways and complain if we didn’t have highly recruited guys , “ oh the talent sucks or whatever” and also on the other hand complain about the lack of experience that some of the guys have. People come and go in college and gain experience which is the only way to do it by playing. It’s simply their time to step up and play. Herbert progressed this spring as well as some of the other guys. Gaynor and reed are excellent performers in the weight room and i really liked both of their film coming out of highschool so of course I’m high on them

What top dt will gaynor be playing against who Miami should fear on that schedule?
And how big do even think centers are ? He’s well in line in the height and weight department for being a solid center starter as he’s in between 6’3-6’4 305. Since when is that tiny?

Who are bama’s backups on the online 6th-8th right now and have they done anything? That it such a baseless argument

We will ultimately see what happens, but no reason to write them at all at this point. Season got to start first

If they stink it’s on Butch Barry. They’re talented as any in the ACC.

And you’re ascribing greatness to other teams’ OL based on nothing at all. Then you’re claiming ours is bad based on how a couple of them played in a terrible system.

Funny part is the ones who actually played you’re giving them credit for playing well in a terrible system. Yet, you’re not willing to accept that they’ll be even better in a real system with an extra year of maturity and strength under their belts.

Some of you guys are walking cliché spewers. You listen to the lazy commentators and their standard “they gotta get better upfront” canned bullshyt.
