There are some big holes that need to be plugged by the D.
They need to be filled up.
Thankfully, I think we have guys capable of doing just that.

Yes our "top 15ish" D.. that plays noone, can't get off the field & gets gashed when it matters most

This is an area of concern for me. When was the last time we had both sides of the ball even upper third of FBS at the same time? We assuming the offence takes a big leap...but on D
We have got maybe the best DE duo in the country, but question marks and/or depth issues at CB, DT, S and unproven LB (but hey they are more athletic blah blah blah). It could all be ok, but I am nervous. Greg and Roche might be enough to cover some deficiencies, but the offence will hopefully carry this team this year.
It is time for the Amari Carter’s, Zac McCloud’s and Gilbert Frierson’s of the team to step up as quality starters

There is not a glaring issue on defense. When your offense constantly goes 3 and out and asks you to constantly shut down the opposing offense you eventually will lose focus when the offense gives you nothing. The defense is still our strength and not a weakness

Doesn't that sound like Manny's first year as D-Coordinator? I thought they progressively got better from there and then regressed when Blake took over in year 1. I wonder if the D will make the same progression.

I don't know what it is, but our defense plays slow and is not very good at tackling. I dont know if that falls specifically coaching or recruiting or both.
Also any many misdirection play the opponent does results in a big game.

It was just one bad call. Holy **** you guys take one bad play call and want a **** coach fired for it. The defense was the only reason we were in that North Carolina game to begin with. Same with the UF Game.

When the other poster brought up our rank in total D you came back with they play "no one" as one of the reasons. Never knew the defense can control who they play. Seriously.
