Well, you guys wanted a recruiter. Hurlie Brown is that and more. I just dont know if he can coach RB's....

Not so sure being a RB coach is that tough.

There is a lot of technique in running the ball. For Duke, not so much because he runs track, etc. but it is big for the other guys. There are a lot of RB's that praise their position coaches for their success. It can make a difference.

So now we have 3 coaches on offense coaching a position they have never played or have previous experience coaching. Not sure if I like that.

he was a safety, so rbs coach makes sense?? Dont like the hire, but we are family and we move on..

When the heck did it become hard to coach RBs?

It isn't but that doesn't mean staying at a Holiday Inn Express means you are good at it.

We lost a lot of good coaches this off season and this guy was ALREADY on the staff as some operations dude.

"CORAL GABLES, FLA. — A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Miami has hired Hurlie Brown as its running backs coach.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the university is still finalizing certain aspects of the deal, which is expected to be announced early this week. Brown replaces Terry Richardson, who left the Hurricanes last week for a job with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brown has been Miami's senior football operations coordinator, working with community outreach and recruiting matters. He was a standout safety for the Hurricanes from 1988 through 1991, helping the school win two national championships.

Brown was chosen from a pool of finalists that included three South Florida high school coaches, Telly Lockette, Donnell Bennett and Roger Harriott."

Cristobal has coached TE's before. And Carroll coached TE's, so WR isn't exactly something completely new to him.

Nobody really has any clue whether this is a good hire.
