Arky State Game cancelled Thread

How does leaving players in the path of the storm promote safety? The had a tremendous built in evacuation plan, and that was to fly to Arkansas. Families of players could have been given the option to ride out the storm in the safest building on campus, but they would have been comforted knowing their sons were safe in Arkansas.

This is reactionary pvssy ****. People invariably panic in these situations because cancelling everything is the "I ain't getting blood on my hands" easy move.

It's done.

Time to move on.

There's no doubt taking the players out the state would be the safest move "for the players and staff" but what about their families? UM gonna ship them all out too??? I know if i was on that team i'm not leaving my family behind in Miami while a hurricane hits to go play FB just not happening!

We know you guys wan to see a game lol but if a category 5 hurricane is coming towards my mom house no way im leaving. Families need their strong boys back to help out if things go wrong. Think of Chad Thomas his mom has health issues he has to make sure she is ok man.

Sometimes a game is just a game don`t let it be a focal point in your life.
Stay home during a mandatory evacuation is going to do what exactly?

Bra forget evacuating just to carry water inside for their single moms or help their dad put up shutters. Or help dad move some furniture inside or mom. They are needed at home right now
Why they have to have single moms?

I`m black bro so dont try it lol.
My fault fam...lol You never know these days Bruh. No harm intended

By citing a mandatory evacuation, are you assuming that all UM players and their families live in Miami Beach, Key Biscayne and other coastal portions of Miami? Very sound assumption.

I'm gonna make the assumption that you don't currently live in Miami and are rather clueless
Born and raised in Miami and went through Andrew. To me I take the kids to Atlanta. Do what you need to do but Thursday we leaving

Confirmed don't livein Miami and clearly aren't in tune with what's going on. You're approaching this from a selfish perspective of wanting to watch the canes play. I get it. But sometimes you gotta know when to stand down

Maybe they could have waited to get a more definitive forecast, but I understand the reason for the cancellation.

I can't agree with you on this one, though. There is a real possibility they could have been stranded for days even a week or longer. I'm not saying it was probable, but possible.

Now's probably a good time to stand behind the program and support it, especially since the decision's already been made.

I would have supported it a lot more if they would have at least rescheduled the game.
They can't, they don't have matching byes

That's convenient.

It is what it is and why are you so worked up about Arky state? LOL I'm having hernia surgery tomorrow and was looking forward to watching the game but it's Arky state, there are good games on and I'll be in Tallahassee in a week and a half ready for war!!

If it is going to be a Cat 5 that direct hits South Florida, people need to leave the area if they have any way possible. Don't matter if you gotta drive north and sleep in a car, you do not want to be around for them winds or the storm surge, wouldn't doubt if its worse then Houston. Lost my last house to Andrew, wasn't in town for that one and I wouldn't be for this one either. Be safe errbody.

It hasn't been evacuated! If u don't live in florida please stfu (not sayin u don't but whoever doesn't needs to stop with these evacuation claims until it's official!)

How does a child staying in Miami stop his family from being impacted by a storm? The storm is going to do what it's going to do regardless of if the child stays in Miami.

The child, however, would be absolutely safe in Arkansas. UM could give the immediate families of the players the option of riding out the storm in a safe structure on campus.

I could understand cancelling the game if it was in Miami. In Arkansas? LOL.

Yes. Well put.

But nobody wants to hear reason and logic like that.

Truth be told, **** hurricanes. They damage lives and property, and apparently they ***** up football schedules as well.

But what I hate the most about hurricanes is that they turn a gathering of otherwise regular dudes into an estrogen-riddled coming out party.

These are the times when some dudes put their hats on and go to work, while other dudes want to give each other hugs and talk about "what's really important." I can't stand that weak ****.

Its not gonna be a Cat 5 and we arent gonna get a direct hit unless we are just the most unlucky SOBs on planet earth. With that said, this storm is so unpredicatable you cant send those kids to Arkansas and they find out at halftime that it is going to hit us directly at a Cat 4 due to an unforeseen shift and they will not be able to fly back into the city because airlines are canceling flights. You talk about a situation where you have 80 kids who would be an emotional wreck. Not worth it.

I love internet tough guys.

But, how the **** can the players focus on the game, when their minds are worry about their family back home.

I refuse to believe people are this stupid.... This had to be one of those posts just to get a **** reaction... Seriously can't be this ignorant....

I guess some of y'all will be that guy saying we should play in nuclear fall out after Kim Jong Un shoves a nuke up our ***.

What if these guys get stranded in Arkansas and unable to travel back home and practice THE WEEK BEFORE THE FSU game?

Man, f*ck Arkansas State. This move had just as much to do with the FSU game than anything else, as it should have.

Well, at least we'll get a real world test of the hurricane resistance of the IPF...athough if a tornado...all bets are off. God, remember Andrew. All you all in the 305 be safe!

What IPF?
What, are they still pushing dirt? They don't even have any steel up yet?

Pretty much. Apparently a few construction trailers according to the last update I've seen.

Who said they're staying in Miami? Players have been released to go home to their families. They can go wherever they want instead of getting stuck in Arkansas all next week.
