Are we ready to admit Rooster has been a letdown?

Don't know what specific plays you're referring to (I presume some big holes that opened up on run calls), but he had a decent enough game against TAMU.

Use him in the pass game more often.

He looks worse this year. When you see regression across so many positions, what more can we do than conclude something deeper is going on?

Here's 2 almost identical run plays vs Texas A&M. Knighton is given tons of space to make a play, and he continues to choose to run into defenders instead

#1 - HUGE hole, obvious open space, 5+ yds between Knighton & 1 man to beat. Knighton runs directly into DB. DB doesn't even have to come off his spot

Nice 9 yd gain. Could've been 30 yd TD

#2 - HUGE hole, obvious open space, 5+ yds between Knighton & 1 man to beat (WR clears out other DB). He cuts back into the D, gets taken down by arm tackle

Nice 13 yd gain. Could've been much more

I understand the "we need to get him in space" theory - but how much more space can we give a RB?

I'm not sure anyone is disagreeing with you, though. I acknowledged you were likely referring to the clean holes on run calls. You're emphasizing problem #84 on the priority list, IMO. Knighton can and has looked better than he has this year. That's not really debatable. We can use him in the passing game. If you were expecting him to be Ladanian Tomlinson, then sure...you're likely to be very disappointed. He just hasn't shown that vision or balance.

Look. He is good. Some of yall expect him to take every hand off to the house. That ain't gonna happen. He runs hard and it is what it is. He is a good option. He is not Barry bleeping Sanders.

I'm not trying to be confrontational. I agree with you we need to use him in the passing game and on those wheel routes. That's been disappointing we haven't done that.

I know he's hurt now - but he looked full strength vs Texas A&M. That was one of his better games. That's kind of the problem - he's never looked very good.

Saying Knighton isn't LT undersells who he actually has been at running the ball. He hasn't been Duke/Cook who he was compared to coming in. He hasn't been close to Travis Homer. He's been below Cooper/Yearby/Parrish. Not really close there either.

So who has he been? He's been Charlie Jones. And that's highly disappointing. My screenshots are to show there's really not much any scheme can do to improve his running style. It's definitely been a hard pill to swallow.

Rooster is another portal candidate. If they’re healthy, Chaney and Citizen will be the RB’s getting the snaps next year. No more 190 lb RBs!

Several of us noted it in the game thread. It's to the point where you hold your breath every time he touches the ball. No one has any confidence that he can simply pull off a running play and get tackled without losing the ball.

I was calling for the walkon kid who looked good in the spring game.
