Are teams still shocked by our physicality?

I have always said that teams take on the demeanor of their head coaches. Now that Mario is coaching more freely (but still disciplined) and showing passion, the players seem to be having way more fun and playing with that edge, playing loose and trusting instincts.

Yeah we have adjusted some of our schemes, but I definitely think this plays a big part.

It is clear -- he took the stick out of his *** and is now beating people with it. He was wound tight -- all the bam bam bam, clenched ****, sweating jokes/comments were 100% accurate. Now he is intense, but actually real as opposed to faux fist pounding, he knows the natty is in our hands.

He definitely changed after SMU. For the better. We needed it.

Let's win this ******* thing.

What's most impressive to me is how we impose our will versus people when the money is on the line. We play ball with this "F you" attitude. This had to start from the top on down. The way we recruit, the way we practice, the way we develop.

Ohio State is known to be a physical program and we pushed them around.

I'd love to be in the staff's war room when they're looking at recruits tape. I bet they're putting an emphasis on violence.

Major slump? Because he wasn't compiling sacks? He was the most disruptive DL in America all year. He sets a terrific edge, plays within the scheme, is elite against the pass and the run, and is in the QBs face all game, every game.

He's not playing on a different level. He's now going against ego-maniac coaches who think their OTs can block him without (much) help. Getting key players like K Scott, Moten and Blay back helped as well. During the season, he was mugged, held, molested and assaulted regularly by opposing OLs, but the ACC refs didn't call holding against our opponents very often this past year.

That run play when Bain was being tackled by the OT, yet still held the point of attack and made the tackle with one arm while being simultaneously tackled himself was awesome. Straight Yellow Jacket, head to Canton type s.hit.

We're going to agree to disagree. If you didn't see a slump, you weren't paying attention or have a reason to not admit it. Mesidor was out playing him in the middle of the year. Bain came out of it before the playoffs and you could see it visibly, not just in the stat department.

Game after game coaches say afterwards how physical and violent we were. Both TAMU and OSU seemed to be taken aback by not just the trenches, but how we hit overall. Now I’ve been hearing UGA fans saying the same about how they would handle us easily (better worry about Ole Miss first).

Are we just so much more violent than other teams that even traditionally physical teams aren’t ready for it?

Bain wasn’t really the same after the 85 snaps he played against FSU. Can’t talk about injuries but that was part of it. Mesidor did absolutely step up

Good news is both are playing at an elite level when it matters most
 
Yes because of the losses to Louisville and SMU

I don’t agree since we were physical against ND, Florida, FSU, Pitt

A&M and Ohio State should have watched the tape on those games instead of the Louisville and SMU game
 
The SEC no longer has Nick Saban to get some reps in against big physical NFL players and Geogia hasn't had that for a few seasons now.

Yeah, I think some of these teams we are playing are overwhelmed in the 1-0 scenario with our massive OL and very violent and aggressive DL.

What Is funny about this is two different talking heads, on different shows, when discussing Indiana's D stated, almost factually, that IU plays defense like Miami. Like Miami is the standard now.

We all know they would typically say the SEC here as the standard forever. The perception and conversation is changing. Hopefully continually and for a long time.

Fair. We can agree to disagree.
I asked what the major slump was. Now it's just a slump. Louisville schemed him out of the game as much as they could. I saw him all over the field at SMU, but theire QB benefitted from friendly officiating. Bain's stat lines were lacking in the middle stretch. If that's your definition of a "major slump," then say it. It seems like that's the part we don't see the same.
It's ok. We can still be friends as long as you support saying things like F.ucc Ohio State!

I don't think anyone in the ACC were shocked. But no one respects the ACC so ND, UF, A&M and Taint could not believe we could go punch for punch, spit the blood out of our mouth smiling, and knock them down with a head butt.

If it were UGA, I think we could have run the same formula. I do not think Ole Miss will be that blind; they are going to respect our power and game-plan against us. Expect a lot of misdirection, movement, spread, anything to reduce the physical mismatch we have in the trenches and even at the perimeter. They will try to out-finesse us knowing they can't outslug us Containing Chambliss is the key to this game.
 
Look how healthy we haveaa beaen relative to the way we play and practice. It reallly does toughen the team to let thea hit.

Could be some luck, but it looks like Mario has this part figured out.

Practicing soft for health isnt the move. Texas Tech triied it and Oregon knocked their **** in the dirt

Mario had thae look of a killer the whole game. We will be hard to beat wth him so dialed in.

Can’t exactly remember what he said to Jimmy but he told him to wait during his immediate live interview (wanted to celebrate with him) & Jimmy said “Have your moment”. He then started yelling out Greentree. Cutting up onions watching. The Miami Family is like no other.

Took his lumps and survived.

We undearestimate what he really faced coming in. Left a beloved, talented team to rebuild his alma mater while his mother was dying. Came into a mess that was not Hurricane football. HUGE pressure from the school, fans, donors, city, and players.

Anyone could bli k in the face of that, and he did. But he dug deep and kept chopping wood. The more it looks like it is suppossed to, the more his confidence grows.

College football better watch out.
