Are teams still shocked by our physicality?

Seems like teams think they understand how physical we are and have been talking crap before the game, but then when we actually punch them in the mouth, they are in a bit of shock. Game after game coaches say afterwards how physical and violent we were. Both TAMU and OSU seemed to be taken aback by not just the trenches, but how we hit overall. Now I’ve been hearing UGA fans saying the same about how they would handle us easily (better worry about Ole Miss first).

Are we just so much more violent than other teams that even traditionally physical teams aren’t ready for it?
 
I swear I was going to make a thread saying I think Texas AM thought they were going up against a Tulane or JMU.

And Ohio State just thought they were going to out talent us.

I think it was also a by product of us being in the ACC and no one respecting our conference.

Those 2 teams watch the tapes and probably said yeah they doing that to the ACC.. “but this big boy football over here” lol

They showed us 😂😂

This. I think people don’t realize how the media has completely disregarded the ACC conference to the point where teams from the SEC and Big 10 think we are on par with the MEAC conference! Lol. So teams and players just don’t respect us..until they line up against us. Then it’s a different story.
 
Your also seeing how bad some of these coaches are. It’s easy to scheme against the same teams in your conference. But they clearly don’t know how to scheme for opponents they don’t play. It’s like we are going to do this and then realize it doesn’t work and then they have no answers.

It’s really interesting to see.

This is why I think heatherman is so good. At Minnesota and Rutgers they were always less talented and needed to adjust on the fly.

To answer OP question, I think most of the country is shocked by our physicality and we do it in a clean way that abides by the rules dam near all season..

With above, tamu thought them being sEc meant that we would fold or we dont play their brand of football, they didnt respect an ACC team, ALOT of people really believe that propaganda and the kids especially have grown up with it.. Beck even mentioned how he has been a apart of it for 5 years and they absolutely think like that.. The players in interviews hubris was just on display and they thought a 100k would have affect..

OSU fans, media and team arrogance was on another level, its funny how they they kept repeating oH yOu LoSt tO sMu aNd uL.. You try to explain that, you wont see that level of the team, in big games its just different.. take them lightly at your own risk.. I will say most of OSU fans and media are openly accepting that they got smashed and dominated.. They were shocked and stunned but they humbly admit it and say they got destroyed..

I'm glad we figured it out late in the season. Seems they all turned it up and got serious about it. I do wonder what the change was, where or who it came from, and to me that's the real question on this season.

It's just an opinion, but I feel like Bain wasn't in the right head space, maybe had some pain or nagging injury. We lost two and he seemed to be just cruising through the remainder of the season. People were busy talking double team nonsense and I said the effort wasn't there, Meaidor was outshining him. Something changed in his effort and it's made a huge difference.

Yes , he was able to adjust to OSU halftime adjustments it was crazy to see real in game adjustments to what OSU was trying to do

Mario has talked about it several times in interviews since we got in the CFP. He said after SMU, they all sat in the room together and the coaches put on a tape back from the beginning of the season where we looked like us. No talking, just watching the video, lights off. It had a huge impact on them and the team clicked and decided right then and there that they were going back to how they knew they could play.

A& M also said they got dominated on the lines. Elko literally said they couldn't keep our guys off them

Thanks, I missed that as I don't typically listen to it watch any of the press conferences. They're generally fluff pieces with the same lines regurgitated.

In game and after game, I've noticed a much more elevated level of intensity from Mario. It's almost like he was content to give the same cliche lines before while being some image he thought was the right one. Now he's being more real, candid, and has an edge to him that wasn't there before. I really feel like the disrespect of us on the outside looking in behind a team we beat changed things with him. He had to fight for our spot and it's carrying over, he wants that respect.
 
A lot of people talk about the O and D lines, but I don’t think many talk about how punishing those linebackers and DBs are. When Mario first got there he talked about the need for knock back tacklers. We are seeing play makers on the back end but if they can’t get a pick they are going to make you pay for trying to catch the ball.

I think this is a hugely under the radar aspect not being talked about enough. Previously it felt like Mario seemed to try to be like Saban: all business, no smiles. Since the SMU game it feels like he has had so much more fun than previously. He’s showing more emotion and passion now. Just look at his reaction when Carter hit his FG to go up 10.

I have always said that teams take on the demeanor of their head coaches. Now that Mario is coaching more freely (but still disciplined) and showing passion, the players seem to be having way more fun and playing with that edge, playing loose and trusting instincts.

Yeah we have adjusted some of our schemes, but I definitely think this plays a big part.
