Now, I did think he was going to make a leap this year as an elite college quarterback. So far, that hasn’t happened. He’s been solid but not spectacular. The last two #1 picks (Mendoza and Ward) were playing at a higher level at this point in the season.

Still a lot of football left. He needs to become more consistent drive to drive.

NFL teams are wasting money on Manning as a first round pick. Bottom line

I mean, I know the family isnt playing the nepotism card like the James and Sanders families. But any 1st round hype he's getting is about egotistical NFL scouts who dont want to be proven wrong.

My bet is that he gets his chance as a starter, because of his name, and ultimately he becomes a career backup.

As far as QB prospects, he's still pretty high up. Kamario Taylor has looked the best but he's not draft eligible. Drew Mestemaker has been most impressive of the draft-eligible guys but he should stay another year. Trinidad Chambliss and Darian Mensah are the best college players but have some questions to answer in terms of pro projections. I'd still have Manning over Dante Moore, Julian Sayin and Sam Leavitt. Probably over CJ Carr too based on the traits.

His passer rating through 4 games this year is actually WORSE than it was through four games last year.

Both of the guys you named also looked better when playing with less talent around them. And then when surrounded by talent they absolutely shined.

Texas is LOADED everywhere but at QB.
Period.

And if we’re being honest, it’s not like he finished last year that great anyways. It only looked good because of how awful the first part of last year was. Context on that man.
 
Arch’s arm talent is nothing special and he doesn’t make up for it in other areas. He struggles to stand in the pocket and read the field

Mateer I think has lost confidence. I still think he’s a good college QB in the right system with the right supporting cast

Arch is incredibly flawed, I think one of the most overrated QB’s, maybe ever. The Manning name is doing all the heavy lifting.
The rest are all pretty speculative picks in the top 5.

The last time we saw something like the Arch Manning situation was back when Chris Simms played for (ironically) Texas.

Richardson is a freak athlete with legitimate arm talent. Arch is an above average athlete with decent arm talent.

One can excuse drafting Richardson for the upside and thinking you can develop that. What upside does Arch have left?
 
Arch is good enough for TX to win a national championship. I wouldn’t bet my NFL franchise on him, but he’s a capable college QB. That team is absolutely loaded, best defense in the country, and monster lines.

I don’t think he can.. but they are going to be in the mix with that defense. He gets lost in coverage way too often. He showed me 1 NFL level pass in that whole UT game. He has to actually look down when he is about to scramble, it’s the weirdest thing because he is actually a great athlete. He could use his feet more, but he even hesitates when running. His head is never going to be NFL ready. His arm is above average, and he is not even elite running threat because of indecision.

It’s almost like nepotism (but not nepotism - like last names matter, I’m sure there is an -ism term for this but I don’t know it) is a big deal in sports.

I often struggle with seeing what pro scouts see. Arch is considered a top of the first draft pick and I just don’t see it. I don’t trust his processing, his ball location and the consistency of his play in big moments. I wouldn’t draft him.
Which means he will likely have a hall of fame career.
