Apparently he wasn't good enough for an offer

Can he tackle, can he set the edge, does he root for teammates? Thats what Manny cares about.. He would be on bench here anyways due to seniority and waiting his turn.. Then when he sees the field get bombed or pass interfere like we corch em up..
tackle? did you watch Ivey get trucked in first quarter?

Pat Surtain (Alabama)
Rashad Weaver (Pitt)
Elijah Moore (Ole Miss)
Jose Borregales (FIU then Miami)
James Wiggins (Cincy)
Nik Bonitto (Oklahoma)
Tiawun Mullen (Indiana)

Surtain is the only one we pursued out of HS.

Notice how most of them weren’t the highly recruited 4 and 5 stars. Obviously Surtain was, but Bonitto and Moore were the next highest rated and they were by no means a bidding war between bag schools.

Warner borreglaes on those BTW teams with ice and the other dude? I thought I remember his name back then

I watched him get trucked, stepped on, whiff, all of the above.. Those are Manny requirements for corners, he doesnt care if they can cover, he said he can corch that.. but setting the edge.. thats what he looks for primarily..

Man if someone can put together a list of the guys we signed in place of them it probably would show either transferred, bust, UDFA, etc

I mean the guy ended up at Indiana so about 100 other FBS teams didn’t think much of him either. There’s always going to be late bloomers or guys who fly under the radar. You hate to miss on a quality player but nobody hits on everything.
When it comes to CB’s we are hitting below the Mendoza line...

Some of our best corners in recent years imo - bandy, young, and elder. None of them long lengthy corners this staff loves.... Watch that Steven Ortiz kid ball out next. Kid was begging for an offer, but didn’t meet the height standard I am guessing. It’s frustrating how we miss on some of these kids. We need a new defensive staff ASAP

I loved Bonito and Moore. Really wanted them on the team, along with Weaver. Obviously Surtain. But those other three would have accepted our offer and should have been Canes. Regarding Weaver, I know we've been solid at DE. But remember we had to go portal to build depth. I don't recall if we ever showed interest in him.

So by my count, that's 7 South Florida guys who made first or second-team All American. We didn't even offer six of them.

Pretty good for some divas.
We’re gonna trust the coaches on this one, they know what they’re doing.....

He wasnt either. He played in the army all american game. Indiana just did a good job recruiting him...he had solid offers from teams with good defenses. We should have offered.
All American 😐 Yeah... I’m guessing that wasn’t a thing three years ago. Plus, he was about forty minutes north. Long *** drive.

To be fair he doesn't ask his DEs to set the edge so someone has to.

A lot of the guys in charge of our recruiting department need to get powerbombed to the unemployment line along with some coaches.

I can already hear the "other side"... They'll point out that our fans would be livid we sign kids not in the top 800 recruits.
