APP STATE

This game will come down to coaching. If we give Brice all day to throw, like we've done with no name qbs in the past, we will make him look like a Heisman candidate.

App St is going to be well coached and prepared. His game should show us if this staff is completely clueless or just coached scared last week

Watching that first play touchdown by Mark Walton, it looked eerily similar to some of the runs Alabama had against us. Defender meets the running back in the hole for what should be a stop for no gain. Running back runs through the tackle and breaks off a big gainer. That's an example of the right call and the right execution on defense but the better, stronger player just dominated the weaker one.

He did go 20-25 against us last year.

For 94 yards.

That game was over right then.

They just didn't have the horses. After that, they started selling out to stop the run and Kaaya beat them over the top like 5 times for huge gains.

I remember richt running the same screen like 5 times in a row because they couldnt get the defense set.

All that hype and then an immediate let down. The App people in my section had a look of disbelief on their faces and they knew right then it wasn’t a joke.

It has to be said.....Bama beat us badly with what was essentially their last year's 2nd team. Yes, Our team loaded with Manny's returning starters.beaten like inexperienced stepchildren.

Sure A. State isn't Bama. But what we are continuing to overlook is that other teams are actually improving while we just go through the motions.

This isn't about losing to the #1 team. It's about our inability to actually improve MORE THAN others teams are routinely improving.

We will win Saturday. But the Appalachian State game will be closer than it should be for one reason only....simply because Manny is a poor coach as compared to the vast majority of other coaches.

The sooner we can accept that....the sooner we will actually start an actual return to greatness. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong but I doubt it.

This is going to be a rehash of 2016. Miami comes into the game with some question marks, App State looks good the week before. Media gins up the “competitive game” narrative, que the Michigan 2007 foot age, and we end up blowing them out ultimately.

Also, listening to App State fans and looking at their board, you’d think they have a powerhouse P5 program. They thought the same back in 2016 too.

App State is a well-coached team that will play pretty disciplined football (at least one offense). Peoples is a solid RB with power who lacks speed and elite traits. Their OL isn't full of special dudes, but they execute their zone blocking scheme pretty well. And Chase Brice looked pretty solid at QB against ECU.

But that defense is subpar and small. I'm expecting this to be more of a 33-17 type of game.
So what you are saying is they may not match on talent but they will on coaching. Man wouldn’t that be nice to have around here. We have talent but dog **** coaching. I can’t get over how awful of a gameplan Lashlee and Diaz had for Bama. We were never going to win but wow we didn’t look like we even belonged while App St will legitimately be coming down to win and think they can.

We should beat them easily but Manny has a history of struggling against teams we should beat, especially G5 teams who he’s 2-2 against, with only UAB being a decisive victory. We need to beat them soundly.
Doesn’t matter half the board thinks every opponent after that is better than us🙄. If we beat mich st. Then uva will kick our ***, then unc etc etc etc.

So we get our *** kicked by Bama (most teams do, btw), and now we're gonna struggle with App St?

Jesus lol

App is the best team in the worst FBS conference so make of that what you will. Not all G5 conferences are created equal so the “they’re a solid g5 program” line is subjective. They’re not UCF, Cincinnati or Boise. They’re likely worse than the UAB team we played last year. They’re not FCS so Miami won’t be able to sleep walk and still win big. We’ll see exactly the type of team we have. If they come out fired up and playing hard, this game is a blowout. If they’re lackadaisical and still worried about Alabama it’ll be tighter.

The point spread is a 100% reaction to last week’s game. The nation saw Bama kill Miami and still thinks “isn’t App State that school that beat Michigan that one time?” We had a similar theme last year when Miami opened up as a 10 point favorite against a much better Pitt team after getting smoked by Clemson the week prior. The line eventually made it’s way up to 13 by game time and Miami still covered. I expect the line for this game to work it’s way into double digits and Miami covers easily.

If the Hurricanes play like crap, I’ll officially give up on anything worthwhile happening this year.

This is about where I am at. If we come out angry and play with a chip on our shoulder, we can smoke these guys. My problem is we simply have not tended to do that following let down losses. But that doesn't mean we should have this one all but wrapped but by the second half kickoff.

If this game ends and App State is within one score of us, we're toast once ACC play begins. But again, I'm not counting on that being the case.

We have 8 super seniors and an Aussie that is closer to senior citizen. I respect app state but Miami should roll then like Bama rolled Miami. If Miami doesn’t, Manny took the foot off the gas. Just think about the size of our 4 RBs compared to Walton. Yikes.
