And you're welcome for Zion Nelson. He was an App State commit at one point and is now your best offensive lineman. Can imagine there are a few more guys like that on App's roster that didn't make it to Miami.

It's true, our 2019 team was pretty bad. We didn't have a QB and had a kicker that was 50/50 on XP's at best. Our 2016 team was better but wasn't great either (we had a four-game losing streaking in the middle of the season) though our win against App State was probably the smoothest sailing of that season (don't count FAMU since they're a D2 school).

Was also not aware you guys have been in the FBS for so long, but I would note that after looking at your recruiting classes over that time period you are, on average, the 99th ranked class in the country. You certainly have better personnel and more talent compared to 2016, though it's not yet at the low range P5 level. Also, I don't think anyone on this board views you guys as a lowly C-USA program. Your 2007 upset of Michigan is a staple of college football history, and in the years since you guys have been able to compete with some P5 programs.

However, our only history of playing you guys resulted in a rout in what was touted as one of the biggest games in your program's history. That prior history and the talent/personnel differential between us are the reasons why a lot of us on here are skeptical that our matchup on Saturday won't be close when all is said and done.

Also happy to have Zion on the team. He's a great cane, and by coming to Miami, maximized his chances of getting to the NFL. I imagine if there were more guys like Zion on your roster, they'd be playing at Miami or another P5 school.

App State is a well-coached team that will play pretty disciplined football (at least one offense). Peoples is a solid RB with power who lacks speed and elite traits. Their OL isn't full of special dudes, but they execute their zone blocking scheme pretty well. And Chase Brice looked pretty solid at QB against ECU.

But that defense is subpar and small. I'm expecting this to be more of a 33-17 type of game.

If that App Store defense was subpar and small then Mel Tucker and MSU are going to stick their fingers in Lashlee's nose and drag him all over the field next Saturday.

You think they were good? I think King made bad decisions, we failed to execute our offense, and Lashlee wasn't doing us any favors. But you are probably right that those dudes can show up and drag us. We looked very draggable last night.

I believe App State looked far better coached and prepared than our Canes on both sides of ball.

That is a systemic problem that isn't going to get fixed on Monday.

Somewhere earlier in this thread I said they would be the better coached team. I also tried to remind people that UM has never soundly beaten an FBS team coming off a loss in the Manny Diaz era. Still expected something more from our players, though.
