These posts sorta sum up where I am on this game.

If the players and coaches come prepared to play, we win big. If we dont, it will be a very telling omen for the season.

Completely agree.

There’s just nothing concerning, in looking at the film, about app state. Funny enough, if you look at their boards and on social media (yes they have pages) their fans think this is at a minimum going to be competitive, and a good number think they won outright.

Nothing I’ve seen on film shows they’re anything more than a decent G5. We out talent them and are bigger than them at every position. If we come out focused we’ll move the ball at will against them. If not; we have big problems.

That's better than 2016 when it seemed like their whole base and half the nation expected an upset. Granted there was hype because it was at their place, but still, it feels like we're expected to win, which we should be. The -7 line is much closer than I expected. I'm not sure if that's overreaction after what Bama did to us or what.

Their OL isn't full of special dudes, but they execute their zone blocking scheme pretty well. And Chase Brice looked pretty solid at QB against ECU.

But that defense is subpar and small. I'm expecting this to be more of a 33-17 type of game.

I think it’s an overreaction, and that it’s some of the easiest money a person can make. Line should, at the least, be -14 Miami.

There’s just nothing about App State that stands out. They’re a solid G5 team, but nothing about their team is concerning to us. 2016 was so hyped and it turned into a rout very quickly. I expect our O to move the ball at will come Saturday. I also think our size and speed on d, relative to them, overwhelms them.
 
Our defense....if the LBs have improved as they say will love playing v this zone scheme. They get to shoot into the back field. Setting the edge will be crucial

Doesn’t matter how “well-coached” they are. If you don’t have the horses, you don’t have the horses. They’re a solid G5 team, and their program has been on a remarkably consistent trajectory for more than a decade.

However, they’d need us to sleep walk into this game to have a chance. Is there a scenario where they win? Yes, there is. However, with the talent and speed advantage we have at every position, it will be a very heavy lift for them.
 
Lifelong Miami fan and app state alum here, I agree Miami should win this game but I just don’t see a complete blow out. This is not 2016. Two completely different teams. I understand App is on a different level than Miami but this is considered the best team App has ever put on the field with over 15 super seniors returning. I don’t see this game being competitive as a bad thing for Miami and it will be considered a solid win.

Not surprising they were ****y when we played them at their place. They were so matter of fact that they would win. I remember reading their board and I believe one of their fans created an account here and posted he expected it to be competitive.

Give him props for coming back after we crushed them.

This again shows how we are perceived nationally. Honestly how often to we blow out teams where we could put in the backups halfway through the 3rd quarter?

Agree. Also, will say their Week 1 win wasn’t impressive. They beat a terrible ECU team that’s gone 7-15 over the past three season. They were in control of the game, winning 33-19, but they didn’t push those guys around or impose their will.

The bama game means nothing to me, it’s bama. The reason App was confident in 2016 is because 2 weeks earlier they lost to a top 10 Tennessee team in double OT. There was way to much hype for that game and Miami hit them in the mouth early. Yes ECU isn’t good but App could have won by 40+ if they wanted too they played third string in the 4th. I expect Miami to win this game by 2 tds I just don’t see a 50 point blow out. This isn’t a FCS team

That would be great and show some growth. Under this HC, unless we are playing Bethune, we haven't blown out anyone coming off a loss and have tended to let the prior loss weigh us down some early.

That said, I still expect us to win by 2-3 scores. The 7 point spread is an overreaction to our loss, but I would be a bit surprised to see us really go off and put up 48+ points. Hope you are right.

Nothing? Really? Nothing?! Either you are lying or a clouded fan.

How can you say the bama game doesn’t matter while at the same time you are basing a close score based on your game against ECU.

That makes no sense.

If we had beat bama the way they beat us you definitely wouldn’t be here especially had you all been destroyed by ECU. Please stop!

I expect a similar score as 2016 perhaps a greater margin.
