Anyone got the cliff notes on this article from TOS on Markevious Brown?

He'd be a solid addition for this year, but he's a senior and I doubt he wants to wait another year to play, but I could be wrong.

I covered him for the last two seasons and tbh, he wasn't even the best corner on the team, Colby Burton was. But then Burton got hurt the first game of last season and Dunn took over as the top guy.

Dunn is really solid in man coverage, he had his bright spots against Tylan Wallace of Oklahoma State last year. Dunn was able to go step for step with him on some deep passes. Where he struggles however is coming forward. He did force a fumble against OSU, but he also got blocked too easily at times, which contributed to I think 2 Okie State touchdowns.

All in all, he's fast, he ran track at McNeese and I think won the indoor 60 meter hurdles title in the spring. I don't think it would be the worst pickup, Rumph could develop him into a solid FBS corner I think. However, I'd probably go after Brown and maybe hope another FBS corner hits the portal before going after him.
Thank you sir. I have no further questions.

Imma tell yall like this... these kids wanna bond with their future position coach. And I've heard how VT CB coach is cooler than rumph as far as connecting with recruits.. so we need to really start fresh with a new cb coach that has that it factor with cb recruits and can send kids to the league.

Exactly. He loves Everything about Miami and Manny Diaz defense. He recognizes that we are Thin at CB, but Loaded on defense! Should be a Slam dunk! We have to fight tooth and nail for CB’s and it’s mind boggling. We land a good CB here and there at the end of the process from a decommit or someone processed out by a blue blood because of numbers and we’re just fine with that.
Because we have rumph on staff this is nothing new everyone of us been calling this out for the past few years ... Except our head coach manny .

Rumph has gotten malek young 3 star good player until injury, bandy 4 star, blades 4 star, ivey 4 star, Bethel jag,Williams 4 star, couch 4 star, dunson 4 star, clarke 3 star, thats way better than when we had golden and paul Williams getting nate dorch,Antonio Crawford,Larry hope, venon Davis,Ryan mayes.at least are cb play and defense has been solid the last 4 years.and this year should be the best with the cbs we got.blades and the other cbs will have a breakout year.

Agree on the Miami part but cb has been more of a group effort this year, dvd and others helping out. Even manny has been involved more with brown and even Marshall. That’s why I don’t put as much heat on Rumph as previous years. I just get annoyed at folks acting like it’s crazy to say he can’t recruit. The proof is in the pudding at this point.

Is rump recruiting brown? Yeah , sure but I know for a fact manny is a lot more involved in cb recruiting now.

So we’ll see if the strategy works this class for cb, my point is that position is way bigger than Rumph now. If it fails the blame falls on manny not Rumph , but if everyone wants to celebrate Rumph if we land brown go for it. I honestly don’t care, I just want corners.

i keep saying this every recruiting season, and i'm getting a bit nauseous of repeating myself, but just to remind everyone:

the position coach is NOT always (and often not even typically), the "Primary Recruiter."

will they be involved? of course.

are they part of the team assigned to the recruit? yes, in UM's case in particular.

HOWEVER, it is not as simple to say: "he's a CB, so therefore, it's the CB coach who is responsible for whether he signs."

that is not an accurate representation of how the process works. it first falls on the primary recruiter, THEN the position coach (if they are not the same person), then the head coach. and often, if the head coach is a force of personality (a guy like jimmy johnson or pete carroll, or urban meyer), his influence can outweigh that of the position coach.

plus, with the way things work now, it's not unusual for some guys to have as many as 3 or 4 assistant coaches and ops guys who are in regular contact with him. it's never and i mean NEVER, just one guy carrying the water.

You notice nobody brings up how bad of a recruiter Manny Diaz is? They only mention Rumph. I remember Urban Meyer being the primary recruiter of kids even as a Head Coach... I guess that's why one is Great and the other well let's see.
Manny was the 1B on the James Williams commitment per 247. If you don't think he is a good recruiter based on the terrible on field performance and us having solid classes...

Let me just respectfully correct a portion of you last sentence Crib. You correct it’s on Diaz if we fail to get this kid, but not because theyre the ones recruting him right now. Because the head coach Diaz kept a CB coach employed, that cant recruit the freaking position. It’s an indictment on Rumph that CB recruiting is now a Committee effort and an indictment on Diaz for allowing this to happen instead of moving on from Rumph last year.
If the person in charge of the operation is okay with the way things are it’s on him friend. Yeah rumph is supposed to be responsible but manny has made sure he isn’t.. it’s on manny FOR ME

OT: You still making videos?
That was a different Canesfreak. I’m 50 and he was a teenager when he made those vids. Great kid. Ended up going to Duke (he seriously was in HS when he made most of those video edits). Not sure what ended up happening to him.

*** yourself you piece of shlt . I can't think of anything more disrespectful than your avatar . A man wiping his *** with the American flag . You're ***n garbage .
I have always disliked just about everything about you, but this is a fantastic post. I didn’t serve but I can imagine anyone who did would be really ****ed off.

I wish people could live in a socialist country like cuba for 30 days.they will come back worshipping the American flag and this great country and system.by far the best in the world its a shame alot of people take it for granted.

Markevious comes across like a kid who wants to play with great players. He would literally be playing with average to below average players on vt. I would have get him tested for coke if he chose vt. Then combine that with the class of 22. Manny just has to win and he could name any recruit. Recruit the dogs and win big wins. ***Cing tired of mediocrity.

Whenever Marshall committed to staff and everyone was celebrating, slurping Rumph I actually posted go ahead and give him the credit even though he doesn’t deserve much. When Marshall committed to uf I also posted this has nothing to do with Rumph. Marshall “ was “ coming because of cooney , Diaz , dvd and Banda. Everyone pitches in now with the cb position, leaving mike to pretty much coach. Which I’m fine with , I’ve never said fire the dude. If we don’t get brown it’s on manny and the guys recruiting the kid at this point.
So he's a coach Kool that we couldn't get out of here fast enough?

BINGO! If Miami would've stayed on him despite Marshall telling the staff he wants to be here... He would've been committed. Kids want to feel wanted as well. They tossed him aside like a $2 ***** when Marshall said "Hello". Now we fighting for him.
This is not true at all. Miami did not throw him to the side once Marshall became a possibility/silent commitment.
