Yall are some harsh critics.
We were favored by 17 and we won by 37. At the end of the 3rd quarter we were up by 29 points.
We had over 300 yards of offense at halftime.
For sure, we had some drives that didn't pan out.
But let's put it this way. When Miami had the best offense on the planet last season, we averaged 3.83 points per drive, which was far and away #1 in America.
Against USF, we had 12 drives, and scored 49 points.
49/12 = 4.08 points per drive. That is elite of elite of elite.
Even if you want to throw away the entire 4th quarter, we scored 35 points on 10 drives. 3.50 points per drive would've ranked 4th in the country last year. I get that everyone wants to score 60 if we get up 28-6, but it almost never works out like that. There's regression to a mean in everything. We're just not going to have 10 possessions and score 10 touchdowns against really anyone, never mind a team who had just beaten two ranked teams.
UiF and ND, I see the point. But we smacked the **** out of USF, the game was literally never close or even remotely in doubt. Points in the first quarter are worth just as much as they are in the other quarters. As a matter of fact, I could argue they're *MORE* valuable because when you get a team down, they often change their entire gameplan and have to play in a way that's not their most comfortable.
Anyway, we smashed the **** out of USF. Men against boys. That's very likely not happening this week. FSU is much better, and they're home.
