Anybody else

It seems that the Canes haters are out in force. Is it a coincidence that as the SLURPER movement wanes, the anti-Butch movement goes into hyperdrive?

Would love to see butch come back, don't know if they would hire him or not. My guess is either Cristobal or possibly Richt from Georgia, if fired this year, will be next coach

Hiring Butch rejuvenates interest in this program 100 fold. The power of nostalgia is great and it'll bring excitement back to this program even if his 2nd go around fails. As long as he makes the right hires I think he'll do fine. The only problem is getting the University to actually call him.

... sick of all these old head Miami Hurricanes' fans not letting go of the past, and clinging on to a dude from 20 years ago so that they can pretend they're still the same guys they were 20 years ago?

Butch Davis to UM is what Joe Gibbs was to the Washington Redskins.

Gibbs was an all-time great with the Redskins during his prime, winning 67% of his games ... But when he came back to re-build the team, he was below .500.

And I'm guessing there was probably a similarly vocal contingent of Redskins' fans who cited what Joe did before for the team, and how he would do it again.

But things change ...

Butch has been away from UM for 15 years ... And he's been out of coaching for 5 years.

Neither of those facts lend credence to the arguments some of yall keep posting, that he is "a sure thing", "can't miss" coaching hire.

I almost wish we'd hire Butch just to shut y'all up. Almost ...

This clown thinks we should go after Tom Herman (coached 4 games total) and skip over Butch Davis.

I mean, what can you even really say to this fool?

This dude is potato salad.

"Hey potatoes, remember me? Best team in the history of college football?"

I just know we will have the best players most games and they will be pro ready and perform at the U. Thats all I want. That man faced a real cloud. His talent evaluation is next to none. If you're gonna pony up for Patterson, do it. But dont give me no flavor of the month coaching memphis. **** no. Coaching Miami and the expectations and obstacles is not childs play. You not only need to understand it, you need to embrace it.

Who's that super old Dude that coached Kansas st, left, then came back and kicked our *** and went to a bcs game?

Dee Snyder

That man is a goddam genius. 16 time world champion too. I saw him in Palm Beach once.

I think he meant Duke Snyder......Wasn't Dee Snyder some guy with a really twisted sister?

You might be thinking of Billy "Dee" Williams

This old dude Butch went 8-5 for 3 consecutive years At North Carolina...he never lived up to expectations there...you'll need to stop hyping up this old fart.Only team he beat was us because his safeties continued to run pick 6's off Jacory. Mack Brown took North Carolins tp astounding heights in 96 and 97 I think they were 11-1 both of those years... Butch is no savior...I ride with OP

In between Mack Brown and Butch Davis, UNC won 8 games once. UNC had won 27 games over the previous 6 years to Butch. But oh yeah he disappointed alright. Stick to trashing Mark Walton.

Went 8-5 two years in a row with major talent...lost both of his bowl game. I won't even count his last year when they went 7-5 .... He is overrated because of his crooting. Now everyone is crooting down here it won't be the same... I mean he better then golden, schiano, and cristabol but he is not our savior

And oh yea Walton is averaging 2.9 yards a carry his last 3 games against garbage teams

I would rather have a top 10 coach that's a little younger, football has changed over the years.

Nick Saban, Urban Liar, and Gary Patterson say hello. All big time coaches and over or close to 50.

You can explain to these pups, but you can't understand to these pups.

Also Mark Dantonio, Art Briles, Jim Mora Jr., Dumbo they are all around 50 - 60.

That's what experienced coaches give you, EXPERIENCE.

Yep because the NFL and college are the same conceptual entity.

Joe Gibbs was out of the NFL for 12 years. Butch has been out of college for 5 and was still around football and not NASCAR.

The facts that recruiting and basic instruction are what we need right now and that is irrelevant to the NFL means nothing to you I guess.

You have literally no evidence that Butch wouldn't be successful here, just some weird bitterness towards him.

His eye for talent is still elite, his recruiting is unmatched, and his ability to select assistants is unquestioned.

I almost wish that somebody else would hire Butch so you can see the error of your ways. Almost.

The only problem with him going to another school is the Butch Slurp Squad gets to use the excuse, "but he didn't have access to South Florida talent" or, "that team never won anything, and is a basketball school".

Meanwhile, those same guys are dumping on a guy who really is coaching at a basketball school and won 10 games last season for the first time in the history of the school ... In his 4th season. And he's got 1 of the longest winning streaks in college football, right now ... At a basketball school.

But yeah, Butch was handicapped coaching at UNC. That's why he couldn't win more than 8 games in a season ... Against the crappy Coastal, in the very average ACC ...

"Pups." I was there and remember Butch and his inadequacies well. Coaches like Urban, or Saban, or Patterson would slap Butch silly. Even Blandy beat him. No thanks (unless there is absolutely no other reasonable option available).

The top 3 coaches in college are better than Butch? I guess we should criticize Tom Osborne for the fact that Bobby Bowden, Bear Bryant, and Woody Hayes were better than him. Galen Hall once beat Jimmy Johnson. Is he better than Jimmy? Who do you recommend, Coach TRock305?

Read the prior posts; others were comparing those guys to Botch in terms of age. There is no comparison between these guys and Butch, however. Butch was consistently outsmarted and it took enormous talent to overcome his deficits. Sure, he, along with people like Chud, Coker, Pagano, Schiano etc put together an incredible roster his last three seasons but he also managed to underperform two of those 3 years. 66-13 with the conf title on the line... smh. And, for some reason Butch is credited as being solely responsible for those rosters, as if coordinators and assistants don't do the bulk of recruiting work. Sure, if Butch could put together an incredible staff, and if they could re-create one of the best rosters in college football history again, he might manage to get into a conference championship game; but that's a lot of ifs. There is no guarantee of that after all this time, and particularly with an administration that isn't willing to bend the rules to let anyone the coach wants into the University. With this admin., UM is far better off with an Xs & Os guy. I'm not going to pretend to have watched enough of the Houstons, Memphises, and Northern Illinois of the college football world to know who the best coaches are right now.
But I've seen enough of Butch to know he ain't it.

Stop watching the 30 for 30s. It's ancient history. UM needs to turn the page.

Are you seriously that dense? Ever look at the occasional losses by Meyer? Saban? Name any successful coach, and they on occasion will lose a game.

Just don't have the sense to form a comparative thought - reason it out - check your information.

We get Butch - and Urban and Saban will more likely be the ones getting biiitch slapped.

His teams whipped everyone.

Yeah because he didn't have all of his stars suspended and those NFL guys weren't true freshmen. The upperclassmen he inherited weren't scrubs that he had to play over an 18 year old Robert Quinn. Nice try. And he lost those bowl games by a total of 3 points to very good West Virginia and Pitt teams who were senior laden and had track record of winning beforehand. UNC had gone 2-10.

And with Walton when you get the ball at the 1, all you can get is 1. There's a reason he's scoring TD's and the goal line RB you silly goose who bashes our own players.
