I think we roll as well, but something more like 38 - 13. I think we are going to run the ball down their throats and go into halftime up like 20 to 7 and pull further away in the 2nd half. It’s not like USF was going up and down the field on the gaytes. Our D & O are better than theirs by a lot.
Miami is bigger, faster, and stronger across the board. The ONLY reason that would lose a game like this we get the “Mario special” early this year. And in the very unlikely event that does happen, his seat should be as red hot as Napier’s. What is the point of building a championship level roster if it is a stone cold lock that the HC will inevitably **** away games against weaker opponents?
A coach that beats good teams but loses to bad ones is arguably worse than a HC who beats up on weaker opponents but can’t win a big game. Notre Dame is still a top 10 team after losing to Miami. How many times have we seen a SEC team lose to “quality opponent” but barely move in the rankings?
I can understand a loss to a top tier P4 team. But having a championship level roster and losing to a G5 at home- a season after having the best offense in cfb and best QB in the country? Missing the playoffs again due to inexplicable losses? I think that should close the book on a HC.
Note that I am not picking on Mario in particular- I’d hold the same opinion for any coach at any other program in the country. A coach that loses to inferior opponents consistently isn’t the one who is going to lead you to the promised land. And all that said- something feels different this year. I think we beat USF in a blowout and make a statement that we’re on a different level now.
