Any experts wanna take a crack at the matchups between us and Da Bulls?

As much as I love Pruitt, give me Thomas as the spy. Pruitt will have his day. I also want Lightfoot on the field a bunch. This isn’t a massive ND OL that is a top 5 OL in the country.

Overall- this game comes down to Miami deciding to win. I don’t want the passive ****. If someone like Bain gets a turnover, run over the QB vs stepping out of bounds. Inflict some pain & dominate!

Last year Golesh’s use of motion with their TEMU version of Restrepo gave us fits in the first half. Guy put on a clinic (kind of). Don’t believe they have him anymore, and so far alignment and communication doesn’t seem to be an issue for us.

Teams are gonna try to use the bubble screen and quick hitters to keep us on the field and soften the middle to try to get a run game going. BCU did it vs our #2’s a couple of times. Key, as it is with every offense, is to limit 1st and 2nd downs. Make their QB drop back 3rd and 6+ and it’s time for our DL to eat.

Offensively I think we come out and just move the ball up and down the field. The check downs will be there. By the 3rd quarter Beck will be able to point their DL and tell them where the ball is going and they won’t be able to stop it.

Grammatica will get a couple of FGs.

I got it at Miami 38 - USF 13

They don’t have that atkins guy this year and we are much better in the nickel. If you ask me Scott has been our second best defensive player. Guy is looking insane on the field.

We are faster, smarter and bigger on defense this year. The only concern is the back breaking scramble.

But look at the numbers. They scored 18 points against ufag. Is that supposed to scare me ?

I like that Golesh will onside kick, fake punt, and run trick plays. He has a lil Spurrier in him. Their defense has improved. Expect that same lead draw that Carr scored on, lots of tempo, and tricks.

They had a high amount of roster changes - 50 new players (27 transfers).

Here is the box score from their Boise game. Boise is the left. USF the right. It’s not like usf thoroughly thumped Boise. They just maximized every single mistake. USF did the same vs UF.

They are that weird up tempo team, who isn’t overly explosive. They’ll hit some big plays but it’s more of that methodical style. They will also be getting their asses kissed all week. Just need to score early and not play with our food.

I haven't done a deep dive, but from my amateur view of it...

Canes vs Bulls: OL vs DL - We've said it time and again - we probably have the best OL in the nation and at worst one of the top 3. They are well-coached and have real athletes on their DL, but I expect us to win this going away. Where I could see them giving us fits is if they sell out to stop the run and Beck and the receivers are not on the same page and then we get a couple of turnovers and now, they just have to pin their ears back. Still, we should win this all-important phase of the game. Advantage Canes.

Canes vs Bulls: DL vs OL - We should have an advantage here, but if Brown finds a lot of success scrambling and running the ball, this could nullify our elite pass rush and run stopping. It's a big "IF". I still think our DL will get to Brown in the 2nd half when he's gassed. Advantage Canes.

Canes vs Bulls: Run D vs Brown and his RB's - We have traditionally had a hard time against running QB's and he's one of the best, if not the best in the county. Heatherman's no fool, so I think he'll ghost him and use other techniques and schemes to mute the QB's effectiveness, but make no mistake, Brown will crack off a few that will make us wanna tear our hair out. Advantage Canes.

Canes vs Bulls: Run Game vs Run D - Because of our OL and depth, we should be able to wear them down. I think they'll have some success in the first half and then I think our size and depth will gain us most of our yards in the 2nd half. Advantage Canes.

Canes vs Bulls: Passing Game vs Pass D and pass rush - The one thing the Bulls can do no matter who the opponent is would be to put pressure on the QB and they have athletes in their secondary. However, as long as Beck is healthy and able to take snaps, he WILL pick them apart. And, I do believe our O is still blossoming and will have more weapons and packages as the season wears on. I expect more passes to the TE's and backs. Advantage Canes.

Canes vs Bulls: Pass D vs Brown - Brown is a monster athlete and he can chuck the ball down the field. I haven't been overly impressed with their wide receivers - too many drops and bad routes this season and I don't expect that to get solved in the next 6 days when they play in front of loud crowd at Hard Rock. I think the only way Brown hurts us with the forward pass is by their fast tempo which could result in blown coverages - and the COULD happen. If we are able to contain the run game, which includes not letting Brown run wild on us, we should do well here. Advantage Canes.

Canes vs Bulls: Mario vs Golesh - I want to keep it positive here, but Golesh has done a great job coaching up his guys and making them believe. Mario's stock and rating will certainly go up with each victory as a game day HC. I don't know Golesh's staff like I do ours and I really like our coordinators and position coaches. If the game is a nail biter... Advantage...slightly to USF.

Canes vs Bulls: Intangibles - It's really hard to say. The Bulls BELIEVE after beating UF. We believe after beating ND. Their tempo on O could catch us a couple of times for big gains. They won't be bothered by the heat and humidity. It's on our crib and they are coming off the high of beating the Gaytors.... Advantage Canes.

Prediction: It's as simple as this - if we are -2 TO's and Brown weaves some magic and doesn't wear down the entire game, the Bulls just might steal one from us. It could happen. But, I think Mario, Dawson and Heatherman will have our guys locked in and I will say - as long as Beck is relatively healthy, it's hard for me to see him losing a regular season game, he's just too smart and has the tool kit to get it done when needed.

Score: Bulls 17 - Canes 38. Close game in the first half and then our depth takes the game over and we pull away in the 2nd half.
Nice breakdown. Was at the Boise St game. A few things to consider.

USF was a +3 in turnovers that game. Boise ran close to a 100 plays but shot themselves in the foot over and over. Kudos to USF on a well earned win. But the 50 yard fake punt TD, untimely penalties, and the turnovers killed Boise. Golesh has a set of brass balls and is a good coach. But it’s a different game if Boise plays relatively clean.

We will control the lines of scrimmage. Minus a meltdown of penalties and turnovers we will control the game.

Play mistake free football, which we've done so far, and we cover.

However, I do believe this is the week we start to get concerned about the kicking game and see some sloppy play (some turnovers) which results in a comfortable, but frustrating, win.

Something like 17 - 9 heading into the half with a missed FG. With the game finishing 31 - 16 with another missed FG in the 2nd half.

Perfect prep game for UF/FSU. Figure out what works on defense against a mobile QB.

But we roll, last week was less about USF being good and more about UF playing like sh*t.

Exactly. We have the slot covered unlike last year.

Additionally, we could not get lined up to save our lives last year. And that was against normal paced teams. This year we are getting lined up so far. I will be keying in on how we do in that area this weekend. It will be a good litmus test looking ahead to SMU.

1. Dont turn the ball over

2. Physically dominate the trenches like we have

3. Play well on 3rd down. Cant let Brown scramble to convert 3rd downs, extending drives and keeping our offense off the field.

their whole offense is all srs or graduates.

Their defense has 2 really good lbs...

celiscar may be their best dt the txam transfer but they dont seem very big on the lines maybe we can just maul them up front.

USF did the same vs UF.

USF had scored 6 total points with 2:00 left in the 3rd. That 65 yard TD they scored was because they took a shot downfield thinking they had caught Florida in a substitution violation and both UF defenders eliminated themselves. It was just a weird play. Then Florida gave them 2 more points on a safety that ultimately allowed them to win the game instead of sending it into OT.
