Alright, they won, that's great, my hats off to the players...

OK, but we won, it's a great way to start the weekend and I want to highlight one guy -- Greg Rosseau.

Yeah, we have a lot of guys that might play at the next level, but we dont have many elite guys --- he's one of them. 15 is a future All-American type. And beyond that, you can tell he makes others around him better. Garvin had a nice game(best of this season), Nesta seemed to do some stuff inside. We are seeing a great player blossom right in front of us

Now, why was he used so sparingly previously?.... OK OK, Im not going to do this, we won. Gonna keep this as positive as possible. But there are still issues with this program, but hopefully, they can continue to improve and string together some victories.

You convinced me of something I hadn’t seen as clearly before. Miami should not hire first time coaches ever. We just don’t have the infrastructure or AD to enable it to succeed.
 
The fact that it took the staff 6 weeks to play Greg Rousseau is embarrassing. He’s clearly our most talented defensive player

Good win and the D looked better but Jesus does this staff still suck -

Offensive play calling and scheme = garbage

Amari Carter Targeting Call - why the **** is Manny not in Carter’s face screaming at him to get off the field? That right there shows me Manny is a joke

In reality, Baker and Enos both seem to be major busts. Not good but hey I’ll take the W.. I guess

Enos did pretty well with what he had. Perry is not accurate and threw the ball all over the **** place. He was able to find a scheme that worked with the short passes and multiple formations. That said, nothing about this win says we have the right guy leading our team.

You know what, I am going to give Enos a little credit, for the 4th quarter at least. The offense started to play the way many of us have been calling for. Quick passes out to the WRs. Gets the defense off balance a bit then you are able to mix in some 5, 7, 10 yard runs. Neutralizes the pass rush. It's exactly what many of us here wanted to see given the OL issues.

Yeah, I get that Dline gets rotated, but to play him as little as they did, was just plain dumb. Get your best players out there as much as possible and get out the way. He has the ability to elevate others, that's the mark of a truly great player.

as for Enos, it's frustrating, you know which players struggle with certain schemes (Zion on play action when he's on an island outside) but yet they keep running it. That stuff needs to be put in the broom closet till either Zion or another LT steps up. Yet Enos remains steadfast in running this stuff

Give credit to the players. They gutted it out and have showed they can compete with anyone we play.

But until Baker is gone or figures it out, and until we bring in a OC who runs an uptempo spread, it's hard to feel like this program will ever take a real step forward

Just think about this, the one hire in the modern history of college football where UM has hit on a first-time coach is the great Schnellenberger. But back when he was hired in 1979, UM was a lower tier program, the type that perhaps had to take such a leap of faith. And as mentioned before, Howard was special, he was a Hall-of-Fame caliber coach.

Im not giving up on Manny, despite my criticisms, but Im going to state what I see.

My thoughts exactly! It's great we won and I'm happy about it but you just can't help noticing how poorly coached this team is. This staff is a circus side show. Enos is a good QB coach but as an OC I just scratch my head at some of the ridiculous play calls. Why did it take Enos until the 4th quarter to realize that UVAs CBs were playing 10 yards off the ball and to quick pass them to death? This offensive line is so terrible that I seriously long for the days of Zev Lumelski, J Ina, and Shabaka Abdul Majid. Also, I don't care what our OL group looks like or who it consists of. You cant have an OL be this pathetic without bad coaching. Butch Barry is a clown and he needs to be gone yesterday. This goofball is a downgrade from Searles. Just let that sink in.

Whatever Manny did with the defense worked. We still have our issues but the defense looked much better last night. I also want to know why Rousseau didn't get his first start until last night. He is the best player on defense without question. Why do we always go to a 3 man front on 3rd and long? Why in the fack is Rousseau lining up at NT in that stupid 3rd down package?

The bottom line is that at the end of the year Baker, Stroud, Patke, Banda and Barry must go. Diaz then needs to pony up for an elite OL coach and DC and fill the positional jobs with a blend of great teachers and recruiters. I would not be one bit surprised if Enos leaves of his own accord. If he does, Diaz needs to hire an experienced and proven spread OC. I may be dreaming but I love the idea of bringing in Bedenbaugh as Asst Head Coach/OL and David Yost as OC.

The early down play calling in the 4th quarter and especially the final drive was excellent. We didn't need to get into 3rd down. It was fantastic that Enos would be aggressive and we'd end up with an ideal 2nd and 1 or 2nd and 2.

It was actually too bad that Dallas broke it all the way down to the 3. That meant we couldn't run it out. I was hoping for barely a first down and then exhaust all the time with one more first down.

Of course, the Canes backers would have been screwed at 10-9 final but I wasn't involved and didn't care

Go for the ball and/or go below the shoulder level. If he's merely got his head turned to the quarterback when he makes that hit they aren't nearly as likely to call it. Once he intentionally turns his back shoulder to deliver the blow it's already screaming look at me to the ref because he's winding up to attack the man and not the ball.

In the NFL the safeties who do it best are targeting the receivers hands. I see it every week. Go after the hands and nothing is called, plus once in a while you get a pop up interception.

BTW, Bandy make an excellent play on that ball. I believe it was Bandy. He put his left hand in there and knocked the ball out just as Carter arrived. The Virginia play designs were generally awful but that one was decisive downfield and had me worried. Their receivers could make the clutch grab in traffic.
 
I'll say how bad this coaching staff is. This entire board was screaming for Rousseau to start over Patchan since day 1. Half way through the season, the staff finally realized that Rousseau is an immensely better player and decided to play him. It shouldn't take a half season.

Howard was a head coach in the NFL so I’m not sure what you mean.

I thought Enos called a solid game outside of going away from the run too often. With this OL, his options are limited.

We looked well coached, motivated & ready. That is my only problem. That should be the norm, not an anomaly. Weird thread K9.

Uptempo spread is all I been asking for. That’s what our personnel demands
