Alonzo Highsmith talks about potential job with Miami

He knows it's about recruiting...it's been like that since Butch left. Glad he knows cause some fans swear it isn't about that

Under balanced scope it's impossible to watch our roster and somehow conclude it's anywhere close to where it needs to be. I don't care what criteria is used. When we run onto the field we look ordinary as a block. Position by position close up it's the same thing.

The separation has become far greater at the top as 4-5 programs monopolize recruiting There are a lot of ways to break this down. None of them are perfect. But for example in 2015 Miami had 6 guys drafted within the first 4 rounds. Ohio State had 3. But in the subsequent 4 drafts Ohio State has had 31 players combined in the first 4 rounds while the Canes have 8. In contrast we have 14 players from rounds 5-7 in those 4 drafts while Ohio State has only 4.

Elite talent is going elsewhere. These late round draft picks are nice and oft touted here. But it demonstrates the separation is next to nothing. It's mostly a technicality that the draft is now 7 rounds instead of 12 like decades ago.

Every time we add one of those late picks to our resume we want to pretend it is score 1 for Miami compared to North Carolina 0.

No, it is more like 1 vs .95. The North Carolina player may have been free agent instead of draft pick but he's 95% as talented as the Miami player. Spread that reality throughout the roster and the margin for error is nothing. One clear cut advantage at coach or especially quarterback can more than wipe out all the 1 vs. .95 edges elsewhere.

We need to stumble upon a great quarterback. That is the only logical remedy considering where we are right now. Then see how many boats he can lift and for how long.

Alonzo being open to a job at his alma mater as it became evident that major changes were going to go down in the Mistake on the Lake is not new news. It's precisely what Furrywoman took and advanced though by adding his own lies and spin about negotiations and talks having taken place and then the idiocy about Flake trying to consolidate power.

IT'S. ALL. FOR. CLICKS.

The only saving grace might be Zo being more and more public about his willingness to try to help here and someone on the BoT actually having a spine and forcing Blake to make it happen.

The simpletons of this fanbase who are excited about bringing in some random non coaching position as if this is the fix to our problems really kill me.

Alonzo Highsmith isnt going to help manny not be incompetent and a horrible recruiter.

If you are excited about this, you are a total moron.

Because it has everything to do with the future. Someone who is actually knowledgeable and successful at the highest level of football. Someone who will fire Shanny in a heartbeat if he continues to fail and finally, someone who knows how to evaluate a real replacement.

I don’t get that take. Alonzo was a college scout that earn his stripes to become the Vice President of player personnel. He knows his shît. He speaks to college coaches frequently

It's because that dude has a personal issue with Diaz. It's clear as day, I even asked him in one of his many typical responses with no answer.
This is coming from someone who believes Diaz never should have been hired and wants him fired yesterday.

Oh ok. In retrospect, Diaz shouldn’t have got this job. But here we are so bringing in Highsmith would help current and identify what we need in next staff.
