it is a joke that private schools like TCU and Baylor have passed us on and off the field

I don't care if they have Texas money, that is a lame excuse.

It's outright ridiculous. How bout invest in a coaching staff?
Raise $ and go hire Butch plus whoever he wants to assist.
That is called an investment w return. Use the return for facilities

“I’m realistic. It is not now nor has it ever been a football school. What happened before happened despite the administration. The football program became an ATM machine. They are not willing to invest anymore. They are content to keeping players out of trouble, graduating. But how do you fault an academic institution for focusing on academics? They have plenty of money; they are just not investing it in football.

“The University of Miami is not willing to make an investment in the multimillion dollar industry that is college football today. They are content with their current profit margins.”

In the rare chance that this ever actually gets legs it's going to end miserably. You need money people to talk money, not a football scout.

Miami doesn't have the boosters to do this, they certainly don't have the athletic alumni who are willing to put money back in the program either. Where does he think $25M is suddenly going to come from?
 
Baylor is doing just fine focusing on Academics and Football! Lame excuses is all that comes out of UM...

Really? ?? Golden ran it into the ground? Ummm, I hate golden but dude you're either blind or you're like 18 years old. Coker ran this **** into the ground then Shannon took a **** on it by getting lazy and arrogant. Now golden is ****ing all over their mess while flicking off the fan base. Coker ****ed us.

He dropped out, don't know how long he stayed in school. I'd guess not long considering he about to inherit a multi billion dollar company.

And no, as far as I know he doesn't donate to Miami, at least not the athletics.
 
This isn't related to the matters which we all are up in arms about. This is a completely separate matter. Is it as important as getting a good staff in here? No! It is absolutely 2nd on that list though. Highsmith is right though. UM's academic prowess and nice modern looking campus was built on the backs of the football program! It's about **** time the people charge repay the favor and get **** straight!

I think Highsmith is alluding to the classic chicken/egg problem. Many on here think the coach is the chicken and the egg. If you read between the lines, Highsmith is saying that if you start at the top and you change the attitude, culture, commitment to winning, etc. you get more money and better coaching is a natural outcome. He has a point in the modern era - coaches used to come here to build their resume and then get more money. They don't have to do that anymore, and they get more money at their first stop.

Miami has the money, but just like any large organization, the real question is where you allocate the resources. Let's hope the new President is committed to championships, and not just being competitive. There is a big difference in what those two expectations imply.

Enough of this Butch Davis talk he is just as much to blame for the decline of Miami as Coker is. If he never had left then Coker never would have been in over his head and started the decline of this program.

There were several players he looked right in the face (ie Bryant McKinney) talked them into staying and then he bolted for the CASH !!!

So yawl can sing the praises of THIS GUY all you want but the BOT and Admins will never forget how he bolted and lied .. We have been in utter decline as a program ever since .. Yes he was a decent game day coach, SUPERIOR talent evaluator, and if your honest at the forefront of the decline of our program.

Its equally as funny how some of you OPs want Swasey gone , again he's training kids in these out-dated facilities and several pros from UM and other colleges skip there own OTAs to train at the Univ of Miami and it's not because of our facilities because of Swasey.

People should look at Duke (pics) as a freshman vs. today, or DP freshman year today or Flowers or Walford , Dorsett, list goes on and on. He one of the best in the business getting results in sub-par facilities.

It's funny these slapdicks are having a circle jerk that after 20 years, we made some upgrades. These facilities relative to everywhere else are still lousy, we don't even have a ******* indoor practice facility for ***** sake.

These would have been nice upgrades in 2002. Patting ourselves on the back after all this time is pathetic.
