Allison vs. Eason

Eason may be the prototype qb but how many times have you seen that guy bust or be ok in college? Bold prediction: Eason will be a Jacob Coker type, I would love to have him but he won't live up to his top billing.

The ball jumps out of allisons hand and the kid is humble and smart. I like Allison.

Richt is a QB coach and will get good talent and probably maximize it.

Take Allison and expect to compete for top prospects each year.
Whoever they get will hopefully redshirt and get stronger and smarter.

For those on edge about pursuing Eason, just think, if he doesn't come here, most likely he's a gator. Richt knows that and he's not just going to let it happen, and we shouldn't want it to happen.

We could get both Eason and Allison in this class and one of them will take over when Kaaya is gone. We RS both, then they are on the bench for a year and then they each have 3 years they can potentially play. They compete with eachother, the winner gets the job and plays probably 2 years and leaves after their RS junior year for the NFL. The other still starts a year and has a chance at getting drafted.

The competition and learning from Kaaya and Richt would only make them better. But, in all honesty, I just don't see Eason leaving the opportunity to start next year at UF since Grier is apparently out.
Grier is only out for 5/6 games next year...Please realize Grier is considered Elite and won the Elite 11 in Oregon..At that time he was the number 1/2 QB in high school...

Watching both of their junior highlight tapes, I gotta go with Allison. Here's why:

Arm strength: Eason
Vision: Allison
footwork: Allison
mobility: Eason
Snaps from under center: Allison
Accuracy: Allison

While it is easy to fall in love with Eason's arm, I think it is fools gold especially in the college game. I'm sticking with our current commit. What do you all think? Please watch their videos and don't just go off of rankings or hype.
You are on point...

Jacob Eason 2015 - 3585 yards 43 TDs 6 Ints

Know what Allison's #s were this year? And how does their comp compare?

Jack Allison 2105 - 1450 yards 11 TDs 5 Ints

I'm sure the comp is different, but ****! Thats a monster difference in production...

I have been watching some Eason tape since we hired Richt and I think his mechanics are a bit of a tell right now. He drops the ball slightly before he throws and legit corners will break on that. He also has inconsistent release points that lead to some scattershot throws.

He's got elite arm strength, size, mobility in one package. His potential ceiling is Baker Mayfield with a better arm. In other words, being invited to New York for the Heisman.

Allison is smoother. He's played better comp throughout his career, and he has more consistency.

That's just a quick evaluation, of course, but I think I'd lean ever so slightly to the kid who is from South Florida, wants to be here badly, is more consistent in his mechanics, and has pull with other recruits we are after. I'd love to have both though.

Is there an echo in here? See post #2 .

I kid. Obviously, I agree. I said it above and have mentioned it on multiple threads. I really only know what I've seen from the videos online, but I read him mentioned as a "near perfect" prospect and had some of the same questions.

Well, I hadn't read through the thread. Many times, I try to avoid reading the thread to avoid being influenced by others.

I respect your evals though, so if you said it before that is a good reassurance for what I believed I saw.

If those numbers are true for Allison, then that is a major concern. Those just aren't numbers for an elite guy, straight up. Was he injured? Sorry haven't kept up with recruiting at all this year.

You cannot pay for the commitment Jack Allison has shown to University of Miami. No matter what turmoil, horrible gameplay and coaching. He has remained as consistent as you can ever wish from an elite prospect. He is also a leader in the community and amongst many on the 2016 class. This time commit to the committed...

In high school - there are teams that run 70-80% of the time. There are some elite WR that don't put up crazy numbers.

Word on Allison is that he's a "camp kid" and not a true gamer. Guy I used to coach with is an HC in that area and he's watched a lot of film on him and was kinda shocked at how bad he looked at times. This is just the word from a few coaches around the state but I've personally never seen him play.

There was a 3-game stretch where his team got their butts whooped and they only scored 13 total points combined. Kinda makes you scratch your head. How can a team with a legit QB only score 13 points in 3 games?

Like I said, I've never seen him play. Just sayin'.

If those are his numbers for 2015, they don't look terribly great - unless his team runs an awful lot....

Just as a comparison...

Western High School's QB is a 6'1" kid with no major offers and he went 192/315 - 2,498 yards - 21 TD's - 3 INT's in a district with Plantation, Cypress Bay, Flanagan, Miramar, South Plantation, Everglades, etc.

Kinda makes you scratch your head about Allison's numbers.

Indeed. But...Why would you run a lot if you had a legit 6'5" prospect at QB?

Also, they weren't able to run a lot in some of their games cause they were down by a pretty large margin.

Just messin' around, Vision. The golden cloud and general tension should be gone. We can hopefully go back to having a better time on these boards.

I'm good with Allison. I Remember when Kyle Wright was the #1 high school QB in the nation. Dude was throwing rockets all over the field. Look how that turned out? Give the guy wants to come to the U, not the guy you have to convince to come.
