Alleged Gators HC Short List

UF isn’t a better job that Ole Miss. Lane either uses this for leverage for more $ or jumps to LSU if that opens up. None of the names on that list seem particularly likely.

Key would be a problem. How quickly things change. Fist pounding state champs to stuck within a schematic disadvantage
Key would be tough at UF, but.....

Eli is building something at Missouri he isn’t leaving there.

Saw a good article the other day about how Drinkwitz -- who grew up in Arkansas about 40 miles south of Fayetteville — instead ended up at Missouri six years ago when both schools had an opening.

Hogs thought they were the frontrunners for Lane Kiffin, but his agent raised the price and Ole Miss met it and Arkansas chose not to.

So Arkansas circled back around to Drink at App State, but with a half-assed proposal compared to one by Mizzou with all the "i's" dotted and "t's" crossed. So he took the Mizzou job and Arkansas was left to hire an O-Line coach who'd never even been a coordinator in 25 years of D1 coaching

Hopefully Lane’s daughter saying she'd never speak to her father again if he left Ole Miss while she was a student there is true.

Don't want him or Franklin in Gainesville. They can have Key or Drink all day long.
Could you expand on that? Do you think that cause it's hard to evaluate how much is Key and how much is Haynes King and Buster Faulkner? General questions about whether he'd be a good fit recruiting/portal wise for UF?

I don’t mind the guy. Bit of a cornball but he’s done well there. He needs to lock down East St Louis. Doesn’t get much from that area.

That’s definitely part of it. I also think they struck gold with Haynes King in relation to the offense Key wants to run, and that Key’s ability to recruit at an elite level against both in-state programs and national powerhouses will be put to the test.

His style of play isn’t appealing to high profile players imo. I think UF would see some exodus from the WR position, and Lagway wouldn’t want to subject himself to the amount of hits King takes. For UF, I think they want a more in-your-face hire anyways, so for me I think Key is a plan B or C guy.

Freeman was #1 (never happening), Lane is probably #2.

Ole **** will back up the Brinks truck to keep Lane. Y'all don't remember how Saban used to hold Bama hostage with fake rumors that he is leaving.
Lane got them where they are comfy. Perennial 9-3 or 10-2. Might catch lightning in a bottle. Yearly contenders at best

Look - I definitely don’t think Florida is in another stratosphere than Ole Miss; especially in this new NIL era.

But it’s disingenuous to say they’re the same imo. I hate them just as much as anyone on here, but UF in the top 5 (for example) is different than Ole Miss in the top 5. Just like Miami in the top 5 is different than Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Missouri, heck even Indiana (as crazy of a story that is), etc. They (UF) have more alumni, more pull for a national brand, historical success…maybe that changes with another decade+ of ball.

Ole Miss would have to pay up big time to keep him imo. I lean they will, but let’s see.

I think people seriously overlooking how much better Lane personal life has improved in Oxford now. He's finally sober and basically his whole family has moved to Oxford which wasn't the case at his previous spots and he's built a better relationship with his kids. He's not going to be hurting for money since Ole Miss will give him a raise so it's going to take more than money to make him give up that peace of mind that he has established in Oxford.

In order to keep Lane from going to UF, Ole Miss will have to give him something like a 10 year deal in the 120m range.
