Stephen McGuire. Helped win 2 NC’s and had great power, speed and vision.

Britton was a heck of a player. He would always be the first backup linebacker in 1991. And he was very strong. As if that defense needed another great player.

DE Kevin ***an
Blew a knee in last game, Sugar Bowl loss to Tennessee. Would have been Top 10-15 pick, went to 49ers mid-rounds instead. Played well, and won two SB rings. Unrealized potential.

RB Alonzo Highsmith
Blew a knee at the Oilers, never fully recovered.

RB Najeh Davenport
Injured knee against Ohio State 1999 opener. Team guy, switched to fullback. Freak athlete but the Canes had James Jackson, Portis, Willis, and Gore 2000-2001. Injured in Rose Bowl practice, missed NC game. Made plays in the NFL but could not stay healthy.

WR Horace Copeland
Was developing into a serious deep threat at Tampa Bay but blew a knee and never recovered.

DE Jerome McDougal
First round pick by Philadelphia. Injuries and shooting victim, never lived up to potential.

There could be two versions of this team. One, the version described here, about guys from the glory days that had some unfortunate things happen to them. We had tons of elite players in those years, and that list is mostly about bad luck getting in the way.

The other version of the list is the one from the last 15-20 years. That list includes some injuries, yes, like Richards and Young. But it's mostly full of underachievers who got in their own way. This group is also less talented overall.

Willie Williams, Kyle Wright, Robert Marve, Kevin Olson, Mark Walton, Sam Bruce, Ahmmon Richards, Jeff Thomas, Anthony Chickillo, AQM, Avantae Williams, etc.

Four RBs on your “all time team”?
Go away.

Michael smith - LB. 90s guy.

arguably one of the most talented LBs we’ve ever had here. He had a horrible knee injury in college - was never quite right.
