Al Golden and player development..

I think the main Title Thread has absolutely been crushed by all this off-topic bull****.What is everyone's thoughts about Al Golden and player development?

IMO,Golden did wonders at Temple, things other coaches couldn't do or wouldn't do.Not too many coaches can take 2 and 3-star players and a 0 star player and turn them into early round draft picks.Tom Lemming,Mike Mayock,Mel Kiper,Bruce Feldman have all basically said the same thing...."top 5 recruiter, outstanding coach, great at player development, wait until he coaches a few years in Miami"....ENOUGH SAID

Yeah 8 pgs of MiamiNites getting schooled in football got really really boring

I guess the big question that hasn't been answered is did Shannon make a mistake having Spence cover Spiller with no help over the top? The fact that it was Williams and not McGee doesn't matter on the play with Gaines. VT should have recognized that the man he was responsible for was staying in to block. He bit on the short route in front of him, leaving Gaines to cover Perry and Gaines missed the tackle.

Shannon was fired and is no longer the coach so who gives a ****.

Your analysis is waaaaay off. VT had to honor his guy as he could have easily released into the flats or whatever in a delayed fasion. Look at where VT was lined up. He was no where near in a position to help out Gaines. Look at VT's depth and distance from gaines...pre snap he even moves over closer to the hash as to get better position for either the TE/strong side RB further putting him out of position as far as helping out. It was clear that Miami was in cover Zero. Vt is no where in position to help out ANYONE on the outside on that play.

Excellent design by the OC from UV. Poor play recognition from the Miami staff.

You can try to spend this and make up BS excuses all you want. The very next weak Duke tried the same exact play and VT was so far back and to that side that he wasn't even on the screen pre-snap.

What have you contributed to this thread? Oh..."snake is a good game". (((YAWN))) All you've done is piggy back a bunch of dudes (like you did above) and make a few corny comments. If you can't answer any of my questions then just step aside and read.

The fact is you got schooled in football and you made this thread on Al Golden and player development really really boring. If anyone is YAWNing it me.

"it me" ? Pathetic for a grammar security guard. Like I said if you can't contribute then step aside.

Funny thing is that Nites has been doing all this huffing and puffing about Golden and his defensive staff. We still don't know what point he is trying to make. Was It a bad defensive call? Probably. What defensive coach doesn't make bad calls here and there. If you are judging D'onofrio off that one play or even few bad calls last year. Then we need to pull up Shannon first year, and see how bad the defense was.

Golden and D'onofrio last year at Temple, they rank 17th in the nation on total defense. Thats being in a league images the Big 12 offenses than Sec defenses for the quality of talent in the Mac. I will give you this you do have valid concern of him being 0-9 against winning Mac team. Let's be honest do ever see Temple going 10-2 or 11-1!?....Temple peak will always probably be 9-4 or 8-4. Golden squeezed all the juice out of the lemon as he could.

Usually "Competent" coaches get better at each coaching stint. Learning from there past mistakes. Do I hope golden is our own Nick Saban? **** yeah!! I would be happy if he a Butch Davis! I won't judge golden on his first, just like I judge Shannon on his first. I sorry your BFF shannon got and you have sour grapes about. Come dude let it go....

Last Year the Canes had the 17th scoring defense in the nation last year.**** yards, that is a useless stat and all of the best commentators and professional athletes will tell you scoring is the most important stat and the Canes dominated in that aspect. They also had the 9th best red zone defense. So Coach D is making some great calls when it counts.

Miami was 6-6 last year and the defense was trash. LMAO @ 17th ranked defense. They played a bunch of sorry offenses and 2 interim coaches. Congrats to golden for beating 2 interim coaches and congrats to coach D for buildong his resume against the 112 and 110 ranked offenses like BC and OSU* had.

Just throwing this out there but continuity of a staff is very important if it's possible. Also Coach D'Onfrio is thought of highly in the coaching circle (Golden is very highly thought of). IMO (and a lot of people's in the business) we have 2 good coordinators and a highly motivated HC, at this point I'd be shocked if we don't have big time success in the next 3-4 years (unless we get completely whacked by the NCAA.

6-6 could have easily been 10-2 or 11-1. Every game we were in it until the very end. I would have hated to see this team under Shannon this past year. Do we even win 6 games with him? No. So kill the act broham.

1. Mike James doesn't fumble against good chance we win Maryland
2. If jacory was a little more decisive on the last play we win against K state
3. Kacy Rodgers make a play on the World B. Free pass from Manuel, we probably beat FSU
4. If spence makes the right read on the QB Read option against V tech, we win that game.

Easily 10-2....but we let those slip.

Exactly, but Nites is not trying hear that. He is mad Shannon got fired, so he is doing everything his power to discredit this coaching staff.

I highly doubt coach Ohnifrio is highly thought of. Some of the garbage scene from him last year was elementary and underserving of any respect. I call BS on coach O. golden? maybe.

Why would I make that up?

Elementary? Your solution for every defensive problem was the depth and width of our CBs. You thought u were being smart by saying 5-7 and 2 but when u realized I knew what that meant u dropped the discussion really fast. You have ignored answering what the ignorant over adjustment (or what ever u called it) was that caused McGee to get toasted in the Maryland game was even though I've asked 2 or 3 times.

My best friend is a college football coach (coached with Meyer and a former Miami coach amongst others). He goes to the college coaching conventions and I always make sure he asks his people their opinions about the Miami staff. He's the same guy that told me a former coach that coached at Miami with Shannon told him "good luck with that" when Shannon was hired as HC here (I've told that story before on here), at the time I was really optimistic about Randy so it wasn't something I was thrilled to hear.

If you answered about McGee, recap it because I can't find it anywhere.

Find that hard to believe about coach O.
