For those worried about spring ball, Pete just said Miami will make an exception for Mensah

Did he mention how we'd do that? Joe's in charge now and he's easily the most football-friendly president UM has had in my lifetime (and quite possibly ever), but classes started 1/12, spring enrollment ends today (1/21), and the TRO remains in effect until -- at minimum -- the conclusion of the preliminary injunction hearing on 2/2 at 2:30PM. It would be a significant exception to get him enrolled for the spring (and the NCAA won't let him participate if he's not enrolled). Not saying it's impossible, but wow...

Why is he the only player getting sued. A couple thousand players enter portal but only him get sued

That's just pending briefing on the underlying motion (meaning the status quo order is temporary until the court can more fully hear the matter i.e., it doesn't mean that Duke's position objecting to Mensah's transfer is granted. Rather, it just means that the court is granting Duke's request to prevent Mensah from leaving before the court has the opportunity to hear the full briefing and arguments...).

No explanation, just said they would.

this ... ray charles can see this is just to prolong the inevitable ... as a result, miami will just make an exception due to duke's assholedness
The university president went on McAfee to talk about the program and its importance. The absolute least of my worries was them bending the rules for this kid.

Maybe they have a split term deal. Most college athletes take online classes now anyway. Some schools do an expedited half semester. Maybe he’s getting in that. Or they could just do an extenuating circumstance type of thing and enroll him late to classes.

Or, they create some type of advisory board specifically just for this. With no summer portal I wouldn’t be the least bit shocked to see them create an avenue for athletes. Like since it’s not on the student in the case, he’s being held up by forces outside his control.

SIAP, I ain’t sifting through all the posts. But can someone who’s not a moron like me explain wtf a bond means?

The bond is $1k. A comment says it’s usually $10k in cases like this again.
