1. These evaluators rank these players based on pro potential and Lagway still has more pro potential than Mensah (bigger arm, more physical traits, etc). Doesn't mean he will be a better pro, just means he has better traits.

2. We've had the No. 1 or No. 2 ranked portal class each of the last two years, were we bagging on the evaluators then or only when they don't rank our players higher?

I know everyone loves to **** on the Andrew Ivins' of the world, but I will die on the hill that ranking high school and college players is mostly a crapshoot, the difference between the No. 5 and No. 6 quarterback in the rankings is negligible and generally speaking, these guys do a good job.
lol, yeah lagway can follow Richardson with his great mrasureables. Hard to evaluate qbs. Their vertical and 40 time sure doesn’t mean anything.

i'll also settle for a #PoorSeaLion one 😭

This is some pretty immature nonsense - you want to attack someone for their take, fine but attacking someone for their looks b/c you don't like what they are saying is bush league. It's a pretty bad look for Caneinsight to have someone associated with their site personally attacking people for their looks, plenty of other things to make fun of.

This number BETTER BE wildly inaccurate to the high side.

Where was the 'brutal reality check' in that article? Besides the title of the article, there is a header in the article that says 'Mario Cristobal Warns Canes Stars After Darian Mensah Move' but there is nothing in the article that actually says anything about Mario saying anything to players.

100% win-win.

It’s not pay for play, so they should have no problems paying him $4M for his NIL rights this year.

He can play at Miami while Dook pays him.

I know… lol…

I mean it’s not pay for play and they can’t restrict someone from attending the school of their choice because that’s an excessive restriction. So let them pay. He gets the same pay better housing we bring in his sister and pay her tons of money until Duke stops paying him. Once they do they break their own contract. We sign him.

Hold on here, you are conflating high school recruiting rankings, where of course they are going to look at projections and traits and 7 on 7s because high school football competition is sporadic and games are not always a good judge of a player's ability.

Then there is transfer portal rankings, which I agree, are less accurate. I am sure that in-game performance and production are part of the rankings, but NFL projection is too. There isn't a growing pattern, that is just the methodology that they choose to use.

I do get where you are coming from, but even in-game production doesn't tell the whole story. We all wanted Noah Thomas last year because he was great with A&M. He was ranked highly and he was a dud for Georgia. Keelan Marion did next to nothing with BYU last year, but he was ranked highly because of his ability. Look how that turned out.

You and I would get just as many rankings wrong as these guys do.
I think you’re badly missing my plain point: substantive analysis is trending downward.

Or, we’re talking past each other. In either case, I’ll respond…

I’m not conflating anything by mentioning 7 on 7s. I gave an example of the type of low level, out of context evaluations they provide - HS or otherwise. It’s how you get multiple QBs ranked ahead of (transfer portal) and projected better than Cam Ward despite many amateurs on this board laughing at those comparisons BEFORE Cam Ward did his thing at Miami.

Yes, it’s a growing pattern to devalue game play and role fit. Ironically, you seem to be conflating game play analysis and ‘production.’ They’re not the same. Many of the people providing analysis do not seem to know what they’re looking at on a football field.

As for your prediction that you and I would get as many rankings wrong, maybe you’re right. Luckily, I don’t do it for a living or create a product from it. If I did, I sure as **** wouldn’t put out such a superficial analysis or evidence to back up my rankings. And, I would focus more on the player profile than some arbitrary ranking or order of players.

You may be focused on the rankings. I’m focused on the crappy analysis.

Take it easy, #RachelHoffer.

I think the saying is: It ain’t no fun when the rabbits got the gun.

Best arm I've ever seen in College Football

Could drop it in the bucket from 60 yards without breaking a sweat.

Unfortunately, Russell was doomed the moment he was drafted by the smoking' train wreck —two winning seasons and no playoff victories in 23 seasons — that was/is the Raiders

Needed to be with an organization with structure and a plan
I’ll never forget watching him play Tennessee, rolling to his right, getting wrapped up by the legs with no leverage, on the 40 yard line, and throwing an all arm frozen rope to the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Top 3 throw I’ve ever seen

Feldman talking about Mensah in beginning of this pod

No school has ever bought out someone's NIL rights. No player has ever had to pay a school for breaking an NIL deal. All this talk is pure nonsense.

Also there is no way these contracts give the school exclusive rights of the players NIL... If so he couldn't make any more deals. If AT&T came to him and said lets a do a commercial he couldn't because the school owned him. If anyone signed something like that it would likely get laughed out of court as being excessive and unconscionable.
