AG on Joe Rose "The Art of Making Excuses"

Best case scenario for us is that some dupe of a team, say Kansas, make a big money pitch to Al Golden after this year and he packs his bags and leave. We need that.

Joe Rose: Coach, You were 3 for 10 on 3rd Downs.

AG: The fact that we had so few means we were progressive with the ball.

What the fvck does that even mean?

It means we had 600 yards and scored 55 points so the offense had a good game. If we are in the top half in 3rd % would never been brought up. The fact that we are 100 and whatever now its an issue. Offensives that score a lot of points and get alot of first downs are good offensives and 3rd down rate is just part of the puzzle.

The fact that we score a lot of points despite having a low 3rd down rates tells me we are too relient on the big play.

We're #59 in scoring offense though. We don't have a real high scoring offense. ****, MState scored 38 vs the #2 team in the nation. We've only scored over 38 vs Arky State, FAMU and Cincy.

But all we need is a new DC, bro!

Get this entire corching staff out of here. This is an awful team all around.

I don't understand his sideline antics this year. He's going nuts on plays that aren't even that questionable. We may have wished that Perryman's great plant on 4th and 1 had counted, but Kamalu reached out and twisted the facemask briefly. A week earlier Golden was whining after the pass interference call on 3rd and 6.

I appreciate his knowledge of situational factors. The media is absolutely clueless in that regard so the vast majority of fans discount it. They'll rant about strength of schedule because ESPN plasters that topic at every opportunity but bye weeks are ignored. Yesterday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were at home for the first time in nearly a month. That's a terrible situational spot. Naturally they barely showed up, although it was beyond even the typical sleepwalking mode in that spot. The first home game after a long road trip is generally a snooze effort in basketball, hockey and even baseball. If you are buying tickets to a game and otherwise don't attend many, make sure to avoid that first game home back, unless you are cheering for the visitor.

He got to try to sell it a little so that everyone doesn't realize hes just trying to get fired and get that buyout.

Golden's antics on the sideline is a sign of a desperate man. Complete amateur hour.

Or, it means the inconsistent play calling puts the O in too many 3rd and long situations, which are typically, more difficult to convert.

More consistent play calling would increase the %, and mean more points.

Nothing at all wrong with big plays. Nothing wrong with not having huge TOP numbers, either.

Oregon seems to do ok ...

Way to completely miss the point of his post.

Except, I didn't miss his point.

But as opposed to focusing on the end result ... Poor 3rd down % ... I'm focused on a likely cause for that result, IMO ... Inconsistent play calling.

Just take a step back and appreciate the ridiculousness of this situation. It's absurd.

A head coach in his 4th year at Miami losses to Georgia Tech.
Duke turns around and beats them.
He says "yeah, well, they had a bye week, so that's not fair!"

Ho.Lee.****. I don't even.. Wow. We are dead in the water til he's gone.

It's sickening, not to mention we're 4-3 and our best win is against Duke, ******' Duke!

Keep in mind, this is the same guy who said our defense never played with the lead against GaTech.

Joe Rose: Coach, Duke beat of GT. Did that surprise you?

AG: I don't get into that. Duke had a Bye Week.

There is more.......

You know, there really is plenty going on with this team to legitimately question without looking for stuff like this. First, every team hates playing another team coming off a bye week as it really does give the bye week team a bit of an advantage in preparation and just getting the team healthy, over bruises and rested up. Second, we had 20 first downs with 17 of them coming on first and second downs, so where was he wrong with that statement?

I am impressed how all the AG's supporters come out the woodwork after we beat a subpar opponent. Also interesting how you guys get ghost after we get our asses beat like Tina Turner. I would really like to see you come on here when we get our asses beat again. Maybe next thursday?

LOL!!! And I am impressed with how the AG detractors go all in even when there isn't anything to support it. I have been critical of much of what this staff has done, both on offense and defense. I don't fault the scheme but rather the aggressiveness of how the scheme is played. What I don't do, which you have done here, is ignore a factual response in order to just make more pointless jabs.

Had we LOST against Cincy, then those third down numbers would have been the reason we lost, that's what's wrong with the snake oil salesman's statement. But since we won? Well ****, them numbers were just dandy.

Well guy, we averaged over eight yards per play with Cinncy, so we were naturally getting a whole lot of first downs without getting into third down situations. Which also contributed to putting up 600 yards of offense. Generally speaking, not too much to complain about when the offense puts up those kinds of numbers. I was reading on another site this morning and someone took the time to go back over the year and put together the third down numbers as relates to distance. In summary, when we are in third and less than four yard to go, we are near fifty percent success rate on third down. When we are in third and long, much less, and the numbers showed that we have many more third and longs than we do third and shorts.
