AG on Joe Rose "The Art of Making Excuses"

Joe Rose: Coach, Duke beat of GT. Did that surprise you?

AG: I don't get into that. Duke had a Bye Week.

Joe Rose: Coach, You were 3 for 10 on 3rd Downs.

AG: The fact that we had so few means we were progressive with the ball.

There is more.......

You know, there really is plenty going on with this team to legitimately question without looking for stuff like this. First, every team hates playing another team coming off a bye week as it really does give the bye week team a bit of an advantage in preparation and just getting the team healthy, over bruises and rested up. Second, we had 20 first downs with 17 of them coming on first and second downs, so where was he wrong with that statement?

Hi, NutSwinger.

I figured how Golden can be successful. Play every two weeks and no night games, problem solved.

Are you smoking good weed, Homey? LOL That's not nearly enough for Golden to be successful.

The Opponent's Offensive play list must be provided to Weird Al and Fat Nacho two weeks in advance.

My observations of the interview and a general continuation of how im noticing that this guys psychology is dreadful:

- His comments on subbing late is to not have injuries, once again its the paranoid lets not make a mistake/lets avoid disaster mindset vs,"I wanted to get the young and new guys some experience with live bullets, etc..." and he serves it up as an excuse as to why things went bad at the end. Basically conceding that his backups arent ready for primetime and a liability

- I dont get into that, Duke had a bye week, lol

-we can play the younger guys now because of the schedule early in the year, lol, play your best players bra

-his 3rd down explanation was a phucking runaround joke

-btw I noticed on sat the officials have zero respect for the whiny *** way golden argues calls, theyre borderline laughing at him and have zero fear of the guy, which brings me to the penalties; I believe theyre a direct result of the players having zero fear of the coaching staff and/or repurcussions of making mistakes..our players are not on edge, they are way to comfortable

Had we LOST against Cincy, then those third down numbers would have been the reason we lost, that's what's wrong with the snake oil salesman's statement. But since we won? Well ****, them numbers were just dandy.

What the fvck does that even mean?

It means we had 600 yards and scored 55 points so the offense had a good game. If we are in the top half in 3rd % would never been brought up. The fact that we are 100 and whatever now its an issue. Offensives that score a lot of points and get alot of first downs are good offensives and 3rd down rate is just part of the puzzle.

The fact that we score a lot of points despite having a low 3rd down rates tells me we are too relient on the big play.

Money comment, and all the decent teams do is take it away, and we're a hot mess

Any mention of 350+ yards passing, 400+ total yards given up by the defense to the #54 offense in the nation?

And being able to listen into headset of the opposing team during the game, then maybe his team would have a fighting chance

We're #59 in scoring offense though. We don't have a real high scoring offense. ****, MState scored 38 vs the #2 team in the nation. We've only scored over 38 vs Arky State, FAMU and Cincy.

its been the ongoing mirage under golden even since the jedd fisch days, if we dont have big plays we dont break 30 and many times 20

I like how the 3rd down numbers get brought up, but who cares because we're 7/9 on 4th down this year!

And also the classic Golden "what if" game. "You're 3 for 10. If you're 5 out of 10, you're doing tremendous." And how about if you're 1 for 10. See how that works?

I don't understand his sideline antics this year. He's going nuts on plays that aren't even that questionable. We may have wished that Perryman's great plant on 4th and 1 had counted, but Kamalu reached out and twisted the facemask briefly. A week earlier Golden was whining after the pass interference call on 3rd and 6.

I appreciate his knowledge of situational factors. The media is absolutely clueless in that regard so the vast majority of fans discount it. They'll rant about strength of schedule because ESPN plasters that topic at every opportunity but bye weeks are ignored. Yesterday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were at home for the first time in nearly a month. That's a terrible situational spot. Naturally they barely showed up, although it was beyond even the typical sleepwalking mode in that spot. The first home game after a long road trip is generally a snooze effort in basketball, hockey and even baseball. If you are buying tickets to a game and otherwise don't attend many, make sure to avoid that first game home back, unless you are cheering for the visitor.
