Adult Boy Scouts

Texas A&M and VT both have a Corps of Cadets. They are required to go through ROTC training, so it’s not just anyone that can put on the uniform, but it also doesn’t mean they are all going to a Service Academy or OTS afterward.

I believe the lead pilot for the Navy Blue Angels is a TAMU grad. At least as of last year.
So, no, they are not all "boy-scouts".

Oh Pete! @Peter Ariz, that is the best. You're alright with me, Pete. Seriously, that was so good. I had to look into this myself, before the 23 game. I was shocked to find out it is not some credited military school, but I didn't come close to your takes and I can hit with some one liners myself at times. That might have made my day, Pete. Good stuff!

Looks like hey gets nun

Sounds more like stolen valor.
Not at all.

Same with Citadel and VMI.

A portion (good portion) of their Aggie Corps do get commissioned as 2LTs in our various Services, predominately the Army.

It's a military school environment surrounded by a college campus. VT has same thing.

Its weird to outsiders, but its their weird, and good for them

I can respect all of the above.

Dressing up for football games, though, is a bit much.

It is a ROTC program. Not one Corps of Cadets at VT or ATM didn’t go through the ROTC program there.

If you want to be an officer in the US Military and don’t have the juice to get a Congressional/Senate nomination to a Service Academy, VT or ATM Corps of Cadets looks **** good on your OTS resume.
We have more General Officers from ROTC than Service Academies.

ROTC also tends to perform better, overall, on active duty.

Service Academies, ROTC, and OTS are all fantastic commissioning sources.

Different paths for different folks.

Everyone is still, "hey elltee, get me some coffee...🤣🤣🤣"

You would love attending University of Virginia game, where dudes wear khakis, shirt and ties evoking Biff and Chad attending a summer croquet match with Chardonnays in hand vibe.

Oh, believe me, I've seen it. They often top off the look with a snappy blue blazer.
