ADIDAS overtakes Jordan as #2 in the USA...........

I don't own a single addias Miami item and I doubt I ever will as they look like crap. I have to hunt on ebay for new or newish NIke UM stuff or just non addias stuff as I can't stand how addias fits , lasts or looks. Also it makes very little sense Jordan stuff is seperate for NIke as it is NIke just under the Jordan logo as if you take a Jordan item and look at the tag it says Nike .

i have nike and adidas miami shirts the stuff is the same quality and build, all this sports gear comes from the same sweatshops who cares.

I'm a Kanye Stan (one of the best concerts you'll ever go to if you ever get the chance), but he in no way is responsible for ADIDAS' ascent to Number 2. The dude is somewhat of a joke actually these days (getting checked by Jay, and beefing with Taylor Swift (wtf)). Dude is stuck in the sunken place.

This has more to do with guys like Snoop and Khalid who've given ADIDAS a much needed shot of street credibility.

Snoop and Khalid? Lmao. Ummm, nope. Ask any industry person and they'll tell you Kanye is a big reason why. Adidas followed that up with terrific collabs with their UB line.

The "street credibility" is nonsense. Adidas has taken over the millennial market, not the street market.

This man knows what he's talking about
AUcane always took you for an old head with the way you spoke about some things but your sneaker knowledge on point. Impressed man. Anyone saying that Kanye isn't the reason shows they don't know a thing. Similar to saying Jordan Spieth and not Steph Curry took UA to a new level. Kanye has some of the most committed fans and they hype around his shoes literally jolted the adidas brand.

Nobody seriously said that. You're taking this way too seriously.

Millenials ain't feeling Kanye like they used to. His own fans aren't. His St. Pablo tour had horrible numbers before it was abruptly cancelled. And again, I'm saying this as a Kanye Mega-Fan. Yeezy been with ADIDAS going on almost 3 years now. ADIDAS was in the red for the first 2 years after he signed.

Yeezus doesn't hold the cultural zeitgeist like he used, too. His last album was the first of this career to not crack platinum status. He ain't that dude anymore. A guy like Snoop -- who hasn't really been associated with his music for years -- has way more sway in a market like Cali than Ye can every hope to have. A dude like Snoop doesn't have to buy a drink anywhere. Kanye ain't even welcome back in parts of his own home town. The streets often decide what's "cool"; this drives mainstream trends (with music and fashion in particular); this leads to sales. Kanye hasn't been cool since he married a Kardashian.

You all are arguing for the sake of arguing - splitting hairs. Is kanye the reason why adidas is where they're at? No, but he did definitely give them a boost when he signed. After that, ultra boost + Kanye (when he was at his peak) gave adidas a tremendous boost. After that, the shoes took over and Kanye has gone into the background with his yeezy shoes fans (which I think they're horrible shoes).

I'm sure all that's true, but try to get a pair of Yeezy's when they release. Someone must still love the guy and buy into the hype.

I'll tell you what, I showed up at a family event wearing Jordans and all the kids that were in middle school were ****ting on me for wearing old people shoes, they all wanted yeezys/tubulars etc.

This is what I often tell people my age (or near it). Trends change and just because something has been popular for a long time doesn't mean it will be popular forever. Converse owned the basketball shoe market from the 50's until the early 90's. Just because we're in our 30's or 40's (or older) and we still like the stuff that we grew up with, doesn't mean that these kids give a crap about it.

Yup, they said the only Nike's worth getting were the huraches which I thought were ugly as sin, but we don't decide what's popular.

Say what you want, but I know this: Kanye's sneakers are so insanely popular they have become commodities on the secondary market ($1500 a pair or more), AND they are huge on the counterfeit sneaker market scene. There is an entire black market built on counterfeit Yeezes, hombre. Keep thinking Millennials ain't feeling Yeezes like that anymore---the streets say different. Good for Adidas. While I have Js on.

Yes I'm stuck in the past.

I still rock with the Canes too because of the past. Sticking with them and Nike/Jordan. Adidas is Florida State to me.....

Funny you say that but Nike gives money to Florida State, while Adidas gives money to Miami..... so you are giving money to FSU

We used to wear Rawlings back in the good old days - not rocking that?

Never knew they made sneakers these days......

Yawn lol.

I can be objective here. I'm glad Adidas is taking care of the school and the players. Doesn't mean I'll compromise what I like for the sake of it. As far as them moving up into the two spot, good for them, Nike still has two thirds the top three.

Y'all buy the Adidas stuff, it's your money. I don't. And I don't care that they sponsor us lol. They're product is good. Won't say anything bad about em.

I agree. I think a lot of it is geographical too. Here in Charleston, SC, I've seen two people with Yeezys. Js still reign supreme here. Adidas is still Adidas here. I don't see anything wrong with Adidas, just not my thing. The youth here are still Nike/Js. If I'm out in some Gone Fishing Foams, kids eat it up.

I guess the major metropolitan areas are where Adidas is killing it.

i'm in the chicago area and in the barbershop people are wearing jordans, airmax and adidas mostly and i see plenty of young kids in jordans they're not out of style by any means.

So, basically you just made up a whole bunch of nonsense, because nothing you wrote in your entire post is true. ZERO! Since everything else has been debunked and torn asunder, I'll point this out too: Kanye's life of Pablo, not only went Platinum, it's the very first album EVER to go Platinum entirely off streams. The album was never pressed for physical copies. As of 6 months ago, the album has been stream 3 BILLION times worldwide, and streamed 1.5 billion times in the US alone. Read below
