Adding age

Borregales alone may give us 3 more wins.
I don't like to play the "what if" game but just having an average kicker would have made them an easy 8 win team last year, maybe 9 wins. When you play that many close games, Not having a guy who can consistently hit 30 yard field goals can kill you.

We beat Florida, UNC, and who knows what team morale looks like after that start instead of 0-2.

No substitute for experience. Devil's knowledge doesn't come from smarts but from experience. (Poor attempt at translating a Cuban saying.)

If he can’t win this year, he is gone after next. It’s just the reality of the situation.

Agree, but there is an unknown zone of 8 or 9 wins which wouldn't be good enough to satisfy all the fans but may be good enough to satisfy the BOT. 9-3 regular season and coastal champions w/ losses to Clemson+ bowl game, 8-4 regular season with a bowl win, 8 win regular season with wins over FSU and UNC, a 9 win season with a bowl loss, etc. Those scenarios worry me. 7 or less and they have no choice.

The baseline for this season should be 10 regular season wins.

I think adding age was great. I think we added a few players in our last class who play and prepare beyond their Age and that’s huge for getting us back to where we need to be. Redding, Knighton, Chaney, restrepo.. those guys are grown men in kids bodies when it comes to the game. Them playing with these vets will have Miami back where we need to be

Last year's team was the worst Miami team I've ever seen, and in the '60s and '70s we had some real stinkers. At least those teams didn't quit like that stinker last year. Still not sold on Manny. Think he's a career coordinator like most of our HC hires.

Rough season no doubt. OP is spot on with the experience factor. Think about how many teams have their strongest years when they're loaded with upper classmen....

Manny wins another offseason. This time with more actions than words. Key coaching changes at areas of desperate need: OC, OL, and WR, along with schematic changes we’ve wanted for what seems like a decade. Another offseason of raiding the transfer portal for key acquisitions at QB, OL, PK, and DE. Hired Ed Reed to provide organizational improvement and recruiting.

We should be doing better work getting 4 stars straight out of high school from out of state.

Those guys seem to want to be here just like many locals want to leave. Kids today are more interested in traveling and getting new experiences away from home. We have been allowing that phenomenon to work against us. Time to take advantage.

I think the recruiting budget is hindering us for casting a wider net. Not sure. Maybe the local talent allows coaches to feel they don’t have to be on the road as much?

The ability to land these highly sought transfers tells me something could be done to improve the quality and quantity gotten from out of state recruiting.

@Liberty City El has been preaching this fact for a while. We've gotten better, but we're still far behind on how we're operating as a program, putting too much stock in local recruiting and not recognizing the writings on the wall. We need to expand our net, and TX is a great start, along w/ LA, CA, and NJ.

D’Eriq King- 5th year
Jarrid Williams- 6th year
Quincy Roche- 5th year
Jaelen Phillips- 4th year
Jose Borregales- 5th year

Pretty important positions, too.

I think he wins 9 and hangs on for another year or two.

Dude, I thought the same thing. When you can add that much quality that is that experienced, it helps a ton. Talk about maturity and leadership.

I just hope we get to the point where we don't have to import age and experience.
