Adding age

D’Eriq King- 5th year
Jarrid Williams- 6th year
Quincy Roche- 5th year
Jaelen Phillips- 4th year
Jose Borregales- 5th year

Pretty important positions, too.
I’m glad to see you post this, because one of the main points I have hit on retarding roster talent has been our lack of experience and depth the past 15 years.

We play guys as true frosh who aren’t really ready, then they end up in the nfl later and someone says ‘hey nfl.’ But they weren’t that in a meaningful way as a true frosh.

Transfers are a wrinkle because they have to acclimate and mesh. And don’t always translate (see Kennedy last year). But I am excited to see more experience at key positions, including QB, LT, and yes, K. More talent, too. I think the relative lack of good 4th and 5th year players in our 2 deep has been a meaningful part of our talent deficiencies the past 15 years.

Especially at crucial positions like QB & OT, for us it's imperative we have savvy experienced vets that are professional & can deal with adversity.

This is a transition season for us, where if we win big we can turn that into recruiting momentum that will help create building blocks for more regular sustained success.

This. Big facts.

Even if some of these players don’t have a ton of game experience (Phillips mostly), the maturity they should bring to the locker room is something we sorely needed

Agreed. And we have sorely lacked experienced and talented QBs, particularly, and LTs as well, for most of the past two decades. Which is one reason why the talent debates need to be rethought.

Can also throw Bubba Bolden on this list even though he came in last year. Didn’t even have that much playing time prior to last season but you can see how much the communication improved with him out there
