Addict to Addict - Mark Walton

Everyone gotta do them, but what’s a better representation, a handful of millionaires or the hundreds of thousands of ppl whose life has been destroyed and never reached their full potential due to smoking weed?

I only compared the millionaires bc that's what tax bracket Mark is in. Weed is much safer than alcohol. The government just did a **** of a job with their anti weed propaganda back in the 50's or whatever so now weed has a bad stigma to some people.

Sorry to hear that, man. I'm with you. My older brother (and only sibling) has been a life long alcoholic. You'd think, oh just alcohol, not nearly as bad as heroin or something. Fvck no!!! It has torn my poor parents to shreds. Decade after decade of just a trainwreck of a life weighing everyone down around him. Combine alcoholism to a level I've never seen before (I mean 15-20 beers a day, every day, in a constant state of alcohol poisoning to the point he wakes up puking in the middle of the night and goes and pounds a beer in order to be able to go back to sleep, then immediately begins slugging them again first thing in the morning. Day after day, every day, for decades) with being manic bi-polar and it has caused damage to all of our lives to levels I couldn't even put in words. There have been many times I legitimately was concerned he would murder suicide all of us. I even had to call my father one time to tell him I was worried he was on his way to hurt them and told my dad to make sure his guns were near him and loaded and to "sleep with one eye open". Yeah, that's a tough call to make to your dad about his own son. Numerous arrests, car crashes, DUIs, rehab stints, you name it. Just cut him off, right? Easy solution? Nope. Not when you think doing so may lead to the death of your parents or even your own family. Brutal, man, more brutal than someone could ever appreciate unless they've been through it.

True addiction is something I would never want anyone or their family to ever have to go through. Sadly, many have and many are right now.

One day it was to quite and I knocked on her bedroom door NOTHING, I walked in as she was foaming at mouth drug OD paramedics saved her with that miracle drug can’t remember it, that day still didn’t help only the last arrest where I told Judge keep her if she comes home she’ll be dead in two weeks or less.

Hope this witness help others with all my ❤️.

Healing came with a price .

I have no dreams it took those first
I have no golden years
I always on alert no PEACE
These are just a few price tags addiction has caused me to pay to save her.

Trolling aside. I've watched a family member who was consumes by drug addiction. It's not pretty and I'm shocked dude is still alive. Granted he's a shell of himself and fried.

Heres the thing, people want to get help. My family member never wanted help and everything my family threw at him, never worked.

We can sit back and say that Mark needs help. But does he really want help? We'll see. Addiction and mental disorders are something I would never wish on anyone. But hopefully he can see that he needs help before he kills someone.

Please friend it surly isn’t, that last sentence stopped me thinking of myself.

See I have my boxes that I put things in my life away in them and close them , sometimes I’ll open a box like I did today with the Hope it helps.

Then after I’ll close this box and switch off the thoughts.
I have many boxes many of them I thank God for those boxes HE gave them to me while I’m down here surviving day to day.

You would never know these things by my past post, I look for laughter every day I get desperate at time for laughter.

I’ll be closing this box soon a take my melatonin tonight and Pray my mind doesn’t turn on checking to make sure box is locked tight

Yeah, addiction and the aftermath isn't fun to watch. But I hope you are getting the help you need.

just trying to be sure...What violent thing has he actually done?

If your talking about slapping the phone incident...he actually looked rather calm in that situation if you ask me.

The dude is self destructing being at home in Miami with money and now smoking weed. The problem is after the first incident he should of just stayed up in Cincy. I mean Chad Thomas and him are close, and Chad hasnt been in anything and they pretty much are around the same people.

All this demons, CTE, talk is bulsh*t if u really ask me.
You think talking about a dude who has been arrested 3 times in a month and had that sketchy officer impersonation incident here having demons is bullshyt, yet you’re trying to parallel Chad to Walton just because they know the same people? Come on.

I thought your big desk mega-electrical IPF insider routine was bad schtick. But if this stuff is true, I applaud you for being man enough to bare your soul like this. I hope it gives you some peace to talk about it.

Walton has been given the key$$$$ at 21 years old. The guy is making a LIVING (well, was).

Smoking on the reg can really affect your judgement of the future. Especially a person making in excess of 500k+ per year. At that point, you've made it.

Burning took the fire out of me. I craved it every day and it really affected how passionate I was. It was my crave. It was my fix. Everyone has one, and mine was weed. As harmless as it may be on a daily basis, IT WILL AFFECT YOU. Imagine handling that burden at 21 years old with minimal family connections/leadership. Even though Walton has been arrested 3 times in 3 months, you know the kid is at peace with HOW FAR HE HAS COME. Not many kids make it that far, that early. And weed will absolutely make you feel..... content.

I mean, the guy slapped a phone out of a drivers hand? What kind of NFL player does that? A desperate, misguided, judgement impaired human-being.

I feel for the guy. Call him stupid, but the guy is searching for some type of peace. And obviously, weed is not the cure for him (even it he may think so).

I pray for Mark, that he's able to fulfill his dream and his potential. 2 years ago, (maybe) before the weed, you know the guy dreamed and played like a man on a mission. He ran like a "GROWN *** MAN" for a reason. His peers coined that nickname for him. He was fighting for his family. The guy wanted more..

Here's to MW. I pray the man can see the light, maintains sobriety, and fulfills the internal wishes he has for his children -- being a great leader/father etc. etc.

Prayers to you MW. The guy sacrificed his brain and well-being for us fans. Let us rally around those who give us existence as fans.

GO CANES

Edit: Weed doesn’t make you aggressive, I still will advocate for it over any other drug. But as some other posters have said, it’s probably other core issues that need to be dealt with.

Best quote: @kryptonite - “Again, I don't know the kid's story but I can easily believe that if he smokes a lot he may feel pretty fcked when he's sober.”

That's why you smoke on the hydro instead of the reg

Hopefully the Cane player family reaches out and offers Walton the help he needs. And hopefully he recognizes and accepts this help.

Step One.

My thoughts on head injuries in football.

There is contact a lot of contact, fierce contact over many areas of the body.

Everyone one knows this clearly, if you play there’s a good chance you’ll get hurt.

Everyone should sign a NONE POOR ME VICTIM clause if you don’t there go play darts or something else.

People get hurt then sue otheyfor something they know is dangerous yet still do it.

Soon the NFL will be like everyone wearing those Sumo huge outfits and run around bumping into others till they fall.

GOCANES
People know that now but this has all come out in the past few years. I think what you're saying appie
I do not think weed makes you more aggressive WHEN YOURE HIGH.

But like I said, were you more aggressive when you weren’t smoking weed? I saw myself, and others, grab ahold of our emotions once we laid off the gas.
My roommate went from smoking all the time to quitting cold turkey while he was applying for jobs and he got moody as ****. It shouldn't be enough to make you be a complete moron but it could be a contributing factor to your mood.

Hope he gets some help. We all need it in our own ways.

If it’s one thing you can say about the NFL is if you can play, they will take you back in a heartbeat. Hopefully he uses the resources he has in front of him.

Weed isn’t getting him arrested. Stop with the stupidity. That being said, as a pro athlete, he shouldn’t be smoking on a daily. No extreme is ever good.

That’s not what I’m saying brochacho. I addressed that in the OP.

Past that, what you said is absolutely correct. IMO, life should be filled with healthy medians.

When I was in Highschool I ran a valet parking company with a good friend. One of the doors we ran was a place called Prezzo in Aventura. This was the rich of the rich. Parked Ferrari's, Lambo's, Rolls Royce, etc...... It was a lot of doctors and lawyers with their hot younger dates. No joke more than 50% of the cars we parked smelled like weed. Weed is not near as harmful as alcohol yet it's constantly compared to hard drugs and people who smoke are looked down upon. It seems to be changing because the ones who are so against it are finally opening their eyes to the fact that it's probably the least harmful drug on the market. I've been a daily smoker since I was in college and I run my own business.

I think it’s just different for everybody, some might do it for enjoyment(i did in my first year of college but stopped and haven’t thought about smoking since). But some people go overboard and act like they need weed to function or before they eat they HAVE to smoke. That’s doing too much and when you factor in health risks with lungs, breath concerns(most people who smoke breath be funky and cutting up) , personal aroma(don’t like the smoke smell on any of my clothes), and how much money it cost to support the habit it’s not worth it for me honestly. Plus I didn’t feel productivity enough while smoking so I stopped doing that sh*t lol.

As It relates to walton I never understood how any professional athlete ESPECIALLY in the nfl where it’s regularly tested would take the risk of smoking weed, sh*t is beyond me.
And if you notice this sh*t can’t be that heavily enforced in baseball or basketball because you never hear about their players being in trouble for smoking. Basketball people openly know a lot of the players smoke frequently which is why it isn’t heavily enforced. Football you simply can’t do it. Where it should go and I wouldnt Be opposed to have the players smoke instead of taking the ridiculous drugs they give players as painkillers or whatever. Although i don’t know much on if weed actually helps them with tolerating pain or if they just want to smoke lol

Maybe him being cut was a "Come to Jesus" moment. Running backs are needed in this league, so someone will pick him up.

I respect your personal story more than the “doctors and lawyers smoke weed so it must be ok arguement”. That’s old money at play. They walked through college via the pay from their parents. And are probably shtty lawyers and doctors. Seriously, lawyers existence is based on ******** over someone else, except a certain few.

I would say I’m an effort guy. Not the shapest crayon you ever seen, but I’m your favorite color type shtt. [ :) ] weed killed my effort, and my greatest quality.

On the flip side, a natural intellectual might not be affected as much. I have some genius coworkers that burn before going to work, and on lunch break.

Weed affects everyone a little different. It Should be looked at on a case by case basis.

Well said. I'm curious, do you drink alcohol? I ask because, while I have done plenty of both, I find that alcohol is much more damaging to both one's self and society as a whole than marijuana is. Yet alcohol is championed by all and present seemingly EVERYWHERE in our culture. Whereas smoking weed is generally looked down upon. Society would be better off, IMO, if alcohol and weed were swapped in that regard. But, of course, the key to anything is moderation.
