But one poor season in the NFL after two playoff seasons doesn't disqualify him from being HC at The U. Coaching an NFL team to the playoffs two out of three seasons only makes him a more viable candidate.

I'm the biggest Butch supporter there is, but I'm not dumb. Kelly would be the ultimate hire and someone the University should pitch hard. If we were willing to pay up to $4mm, what's an extra $1mm when it would translate to exponentially higher return immediately. We'd sell more season tickets before he coached a game than we ever have. Tell Adidas to pony up and pull the biggest coup in college football coaching history -- and I don't think that's hyperbole.

I can't bring this up enough. Adidas needs to facilitate Kelly to Miami if they're serious about making Miami Adidas' version of Oregon with Nike. Who better to build your Adidas Football brand than the architect of the Oregon monster? It's a match made in heaven. Like you mentioned, the return from hiring Chip Kelly would be realized immediately.

I guess nothing in the past really counts because you refuse to acknowledge Butch's shortcomings in college while blowing up Kelly's struggles in the NFL.

We do realize that Chip Kelly was 10-6 last year and 10-6 the year prior, correct? Losing Foles wasn't the issue. Losing McCoy wasn't the issue ($$$ + gaining a good LB for an aging RB is a great deal). The real issue has been losing their Guards. Tobin and whatever other sieve they've thrown in there have been terrible. Signing Byron Maxwell was an easy to see nightmare. Maclin was an easy call to let go as well.

Dude is a monster of a coach who has won with every style of QB and implements cutting edge philosophies. He's an innovator. He's exactly what Miami has always been built on. He's easily the homerun hire we all want. I'm sure our search firm is already gauging his interest in coming to Miami and what it would cost (a ton, not only in money, but in an indoor facility and massive changes to our dietary plan for athletes).

If we are serious about winning big again, our next coach will be one of Kelly, Patterson, Malzahn, Miles, Herman, Butch. Butch is a shoe-in if we want him so there really isn't a need to even discuss anyone not on this list.
