And I am not a supporter of his for this job right now, but he's a smart, talented guy who is good at his job and loves UM. I'd love to have him here in some capacity at some point. People should not be ripping him, he has a lot of Cane in his blood, and he's not even campaigning or saying he wants the job. He's not the enemy. And the fat jokes are juvenile. I've seen pics of the occasional board gatherings on here. All the wanna be Fabio keyboard warriors need to chill.
I've always said he's a nice enough guy. The idea of hiring someone like him in a time like now for THIS spot is absolutely the enemy though. He shouldn't be anywhere near Hecht again unless it's in a support type role.

This isn't paddycake. Manny is a really nice guy too and loves this program. Look what happened when we gave him a job he wasn't qualified for.

Tony is in play. Some folks want him and some want Jurich. The one positive with Tony is that “ could mean Mario is coming, there’s a connection. Jurich 100 % wants the job though.

Today should be interesting.
How do we( the decision makers) not know if Mario wants in or not? That would be more concerning to me.

I've been trying to warn people about Tony Hernandez for a long time. The fact that he actually tried to make a basketball hire while he was interim AD here and embarrassed all parties involved should've killed his career as fast as clogged arteries will kill him.

I'm not getting overly emotionally invested in any rumors yet but I am now looking at enrollment options at several grad schools so as I have a semi-respectable reason to support a new program if this one takes us down their predictable path again and hires the resulting lovechild if Paul Dee had f*cked a pastelito.

What is positive about a hiring a less qualified person because people who don't know anything about making football hires have decided to go all in on a coach?

Jurich+The Field or Tony+Mario isn't even a close one. You go with Jurich and whoever he decides is the best fit. There other programs besides football that need attention. Does anyone actually believe the first time AD is getting Dimare out of here when the time comes?

Completely disagree x100000000000. Mario is a way-over-our-heads candidate for where we are right now as a program - he's a grand slam. The most important part of an AD's job is picking the football coach. If we already have that knocked out of the park, then the AD we pick becomes less important.

Mario + Tony >>>>>>>> over XXXX + Jurich.

You guys REALLY think the AD position is as important as HBC? LOL. There is a reason the coaches make 5x vs. AD salaries.

Tony would make a good AD. This isn't binary. I'd much rather have Jurich, but not at the expense of losing Mario. No way lol. You guys are acting so entitled. Our last hires have been Coker, Shannon, Golden, and Manny. Take a breath and think about what getting a 12-win Rose Bowl winning recruiting MACHINE who learned under Butch and Saban and knows Miami, loves Miami, and is connected in the community would mean. Would be the biggest hire in our history.

ZOOM OUT.

Sounds like Mario is pushing for Tony imo …
I reallllllly hope not because that's gonna setup the inevitable and neverending narrative of "We could've had Kiffin & Jurich".

If Luigi is scared to come here under an independent AD then seriously ***** him as he obviously is insecure about his own abilities and doesn't really care about the program being the best it possibly can be and is more concerned about his own comfort. This all could be very true based on his probable ptsd from his Pete Garcia days.

See my last post four up. I'd take him over ANYONE if it means getting Mario vs. losing Mario.

What happened with the basketball hire?
