The only reason you give the AD job to someone like Hernandez is that he's the only one who would let Highsmith run the show with the football operations.

I always thought that someone like Jurich/Rad/Rhoades/White etc. would want to be the MAN for every sport.

Maybe I'm reaching here because I don't think we are at this stage yet, but what about Mario saying "Yeah, I'm coming but I want Zo as AD for football" and the only way to have that is to hire an underwhelming name as AD like Hernandez? If they want Mario and Mario only, you know the answer.

Just for the record: I would have hired a competent AD and let him decide the next HC, Mario or not.

He wouldn't be ad of football, and Alabama/Clemson have similar roles in their department.

A few things:

1. Saban has all of the power, period. He doesn’t have anyone above him and he controls everything. This is the worst example anyone could give.

2. Many schools have some director of football operations but this simply is a liaison between the AD and the HC/staff. That is it.

3. Which serious AD, who has had actual success during the modern era, has outsourced football their biggest revenue sport in a similar fashion?

Which team, who has had actual success during the recent era, has outsourced all football decisions/leadership to said position?

I am not talking a out some bullchit deputy AD or director of football operations, that is simply a liaison between the AD and HC/staff.

I am talking about some administrator who is in charge of and running football and only football. The buck stops with this person. Which school, that has had actual success, assigned their football (the biggest revenue sport) in a similar manner.
I couldn't tell you which program or who runs things like this. But I also don't know exactly what Zo's proposed role will be.

If Zo means a neutered AD, the right answer is no to Zo. No worthwhile, self-respecting man would take a AD position that would effectively make him a figurehead. Football is 80% of the job.

Regardless of Zo or whether this happens, you’ve seen what having a shortbus riding puppet gets you with Blake.

You want to repeat that process? The biggest issue with Miami athletics, who some have been harping on for an eternity, is that our process is beyond broken and illogical.

We need to hire a competent AD with passion and autonomy. No more puppets or cucks.

He doesn’t either.

Do you want me to prove a negative?

Do you want me to get affidavits from the ADs at all of the schools and see if they have outsourced their power in a similar fashion?

How about this, please tell me which 5 schools, over the last 10 years have had the most success in football?

Three of them are Bama, Clemson and OSU.

Two of them have their HCs as the head of everything and they have final say (e.g. Saban and Dabo). The other, Gene Smith, is in charge.

So name the other top schools besides those ones.

Why after the season it didn’t stop LSU, USC or Florida who fired Mullen with only 1 game remaining?
Buyout. For the 100th time. Florida has to pay 12 million to get Mullen fired. 6 million now and 6 million over the next six years.
