Excited to chat with you about this. Agreed defined roles is the key even though this is obviously all still hypothetical, still fun to debate.

My question is what are the defined roles? From my perspective, Zo seems to be looking for a hands on role and to operate as a sort of GM of the football program. Yes there are tons of associate AD roles where the individual provides support for specific programs. However, these are mostly hands off type roles and purely administrative.

So if in fact Zo takes on a GM type of role and has decision making power then I find it hard to believe someone like Lane or Mario would come here for that. Coaches in demand have the leverage, not the other way around. They pick their staff, their philosophy, and are fully in charge. So let’s say LSU also offers Lane…you think he’s going to choose us over them knowing he will need to have approval from his GM to do certain things?

My point is we don't know so let's just see how it plays out. It doesn't have to be so binary. Zo's position doesn't have to be such to where he's either GM of football or neutered. Zo is a scout and player personnel exec so far in his career. Period. That's what he's done. He's never been a GM, assistant GM, AD, or even associate AD. He's a bright guy and he knows his own resume. As importantly he WANTS to be here. A role where he LEARNS under a top AD should be attractive to him. He can be in a position where he takes a senior associate AD position (football) and helps with evaluations, is a liaison between the NFL and the program, takes some stuff off the AD's plate, etc. AD's want to make the big decisions, they have no desire to take on every single piece of minutia that comes across their desk. An alpha AD won't mind this. And a Mario, who knows Zo, and knows he can help make the program better, shouldn't mind his presence either.

Friday: everyone roots for Utah to beat Oregon to make it easier for us to supposedly get Mario.
Saturday: everyone decided they don't want Mario because he lost to Utah.
Sunday: everyone here celebrates something that hasn't happened.
Monday: everyone loses their minds over something that hasn't happened.

Can't wait for Tuesday.

Always fuxking count on Miami to do the dumbest, most Miami **** possible at all times. EVERY important position must be filled with " a Miami guys bros. Gotta be a Cane. It's a Cane thing you dont understand. " We hire some fat *** Cuban dude who worked at UM 10 years ago, so we can hire a guy who played at UM 40 years ago, so we can hire our coach who played here 30 years ago and coached here 20 years ago. Not sure if everyone’s info is just bad ( including things I’ve been told) but I’m hearing another name other than the names mentioned by on the Twitter. Not sure what to say about it either.

Good lord. We are in for an epic meltdown. There will be an endless stream of posts from corporate efficiency experts telling us about the job description and the correct ordering of who to hire and when, followed by a wailing and gnashing of the teeth about how UM's insistence on hiring Alonzo and/or Mario cost us all the "real" AD candidates, because none of the candidates will have anything to do with guys they didn't hire...
