According to Vegas Miami vs. Auburn in Peach Bowl

UCF beat Auburn. We're far more talented than UCF this year and last.

Auburn hasn't improved significantly since then.

While our OL must surely improve it is not definitely not incapable

Auburn and all other SEC teams will have a very hard time containing our talented WR's probably the best i nation, ....and our three headed Running attack

We have a great chance against Auburn or anyone else in the SEC short of Bama this year.

So to be clear we went down to the wire against Gtech at home. Old school Triple option. You think we beat UCF with modern spread spread concepts as well as triple option? You guys only look at talent for talent. Totally miss gameplan and matchups sometimes. No one is ****ting on Miami. Its reasonable to say that we take a huge jump in 2019 and ready schould compete for championships in 2020. We are not ready to compete with the top of the SEC or Clemson YET but we will be.

So Vegas says Auburn in the Peach Bowl,, before Fall drills?
Why play the season.
LSU, FSU, VaTech,, win 2 out of 3. Very doable.
New Years day bowl..

OL is a major concern for us. I think Rosier will be up and down like last year, only hopefully more up than down compared to a year ago. I'm hoping the depth of talent at the skill positions can help Rosier become more consistent.

My other major concerns (that don't get talked about enough):

1) DL depth - We lost Norton/McIntosh/Thomas/Harris, so that's going to sting all around. At DT, we're going to have to figure out if Willis is the goods, and if one of Ford/Bethel/Silvera is ready to hold down the other spot inside. I don't think we can rely on Jordan Miller or Tyreic Martin to give us any snaps this season. D-Ends - I'm not that worried about, but our depth at DE isn't going to be as seasoned and deep as last year - we still have talent out there, but not as much depth. Jackson/Garvin along with D-Jack/Patchan are a good 2-deep, but past that, we'd better hope Rousseau continues his dominant ways from the Spring. NOTE - we're not "bad" on the DL - still pretty **** good and one of the best in the ACC...just saying that there's some questions left to be answered.

2) Kicker - What? Yep...losing Badgley leaves a gaping hole. Yes, Badgley missed some kicks (including only making a combined 2 of 5 FGs against Clemson/Wisky last year)...but for most of his career, he gave us consistency and was steady at the K spot. Bubba Baxa is the heir apparent as a true Freshman, and is universally acclaimed as a top kicking prospect, but...so was Zach Feagles as a P - and we saw that he struggled as a Freshman specialist last season. Badgley was also our kickoff guy, so either one of the walkons or Feagles will have to take that on unless Baxa can handle the double-duty.

My hope is that Baxa is indeed an upgrade from Badgley, but there's no guarantee he will be as a true Freshman. That's a really tough thing to do, come in as a true Freshman and be a key player as a specialist.

We had some games come down to a kick last year in key situations - take the GT game for instance. We drove it down into FG range down 2, and Badgley made the winning kick in the rain. Is Baxa, as a Freshman, capable of that this year? I hope so, but you never know. For a team like us threatening to win the ACC and make a New Year's Six game, having a capable kicker is really key.
I really really think people are over looking our special teams I’m hoping bubba has a freshman year like Justin Yoon from Notre Dame similar top kicking prospect and started as a true freshmen..

we also have another kicker who has military money or some sort of grant maybe he can take kick off duties over to alleviate pressure from bubba.

I’m hoping our punting is better because our defense was getting royally screwed on punts with net yards of 12. Feagles can punt I think it was more of a mental block for him because punting is nothing but form and muscle memory you don’t even need to have a strong leg (most punters who are strictly punters can’t place kick) hopefully being another year seasoned will help him out and he showed promise in the orange bowl game

Feagles was painful to watch last year.

Personally, I don't have much faith in college kickers to begin with and typically would rather go for it inside the other team's 35 if we only need a few yards. Richt relied too much on field goals last year and hopefully with a freshmen kicker he will opt more to go for it. With that being said, there are always situations where a field goal is very beneficial and important for a game and having a freshmen kicker could really come back to bite us in a close game or two this year.

As it pertains to UCF, a team that gave up 1400yds of offense and 100pts to Memphis and USF in their last two reg season games does not strike fear into my heart. Auburn also had over 400yds, UCF gets way to much credit for beating Auburn.

With some O-line improvement and Rosier not turning the ball over I think Miami could take the ACC. SEC teams have shown you don't need stellar QB play to win in the playoffs and I think the defense has the potential to be special this year.

Miami will go 12-0 this season and be beaten again in Charlotte. The OPs post may very well come true. I don't know if Auburn makes a NY6 bowl game, but I know Miami will. Atlanta will be fine with me. That's 60 minutes away against a good, not great, team from being 13-1 and finishing in the Top 5. That's progress and that's a very good year.

LSU probably has the worst coach in the SEC. No I don't expect them to beat us. Probably should have been more clear. I am not talking about the entire SEC being dominate(assumed that was obvious). Alabaga Georgia Auburn are more talented deeper programs right now especially in the trenches. UCF would have probably rolled us without our TOP 3 playmakers out. We limped into that game. No one wanted to play UCF in a bowl game.

I hope you are trolling.

Who do you think has the more dangerous triple option attack? Gtech or UCF? UCF plays us in a Bowl game without our top 3 offensive weapons. On what they knew would be there coaches last game. In Miami where there fans(mostly band wagon fans) could come down the road to see the game. Running an spread option offense that would consistently have ZACH McCloud ON AN ISLAND. Against a defense that gave up 342 yards passing and 3 Tds to Logan Woodside. Kurt Benkert 384 4 Tds. **** Eric Dungey rushed for 100 yards. Do they UCF Roll Miami? Probably not. Could they have beat us last year. Unfortunately yes.

Nothing wrong with being realistic about our squad. We building. I thought Pitt would be the easiest game on our schedule. How did that tun out. I think we stomp LSU. Auburn is in t a different weight class right now. Wont last long. Again I think 2019 is when we see the biggest jump in talent and performance. 2020 competing for championships.

If Vegas is right, 2018’s bowl season will look like this

"College Football Playoff
  • Cotton semifinal (Arlington, Texas): No. 2 Clemson (11) vs. No. 3 Ohio State (10.5)
  • Orange semifinal (Miami): No. 1 Alabama (11) vs. No. 4 Washington (10.5)
Two recent Playoff rematches! These aren’t my own bowl predictions, buuuut ... my CFP is probably gonna look a lot like this one.

The only real prize for ranking No. 1 is “hosting” a geographically friendly semifinal. These are about the same for Bama. Flip them around if you like.

The rest of the New Year’s Six
  • Sugar (New Orleans): Oklahoma (10) vs. Georgia (10.5)
  • Rose (Pasadena, California): Wisconsin (10) vs. USC (8.5)
  • Peach (Atlanta): Miami (9.5) vs. Auburn (9.5)
  • Fiesta (Glendale, Arizona): Boise State (10) vs. Penn State (9.5)

So that means they're projecting that we have a pretty good season BUT they're projecting that we lose to Clemson again in the ACC Championship game.

What do you think??
I think you have too much spare time to post this. Predictions in June about the football season is a waste of time. Posters as your self like to hypothecate on stuff like this. Let’s at least wait until Fall practice to see how team is developing. Perhaps most important is will there be key injuries to any of the projected 22 starters before season starts. There are so many things that can effect all the teams mentioned performance before their first game. No talking head football expert thought we would win our first 10 games last year. What was Georgia ranked before season started? See how unpredictable it is to put credence to predictions almost 3 months before season starts.

What the **** is wrong with you? You don't like a post ignore it.

You think its too early for Vegas to make predictions. Fair enough. BUT THEY DID and I posted it

If time is your concern why waste time responding?...unless you're being forced against your will to do so. IF so call 911.

My time and what I post is none of your concern. You have absolutely NO impact on what and when I OR anyone else decides to post an item of interest to them or others on CIS. NONE

I posted this for serious Cane fans who may be interested in what Vegas thought even if its June and it appears that many Canes are

Now, IF you really think that you get to decide what anyone posts here or when...you know what you can do with that thought without me telling you.

GTFOH! GFY! BYE

We simply disagree. Miami has always had very good results versus triple option attacks.

Sorry that you have such poor regard for Miami fans, but the game is played on the field. Our better personnel despite those injuries would have prevailed.

You also act as if only UCF can game plan and utilize matchups. Miami has excellent coaches who've been around the block a couple of times

So you think UCF would have beaten us. I very strongly disagree.

You're assuming our defense wouldn't/ couldn't adjust and that Diaz with weeks to prepare wouldn't be prepared and ready. Again I strongly disagree.

Unfortunately the discussion is moot we'll never no one way or another

Also, will someone define "elite"

Playoff?, TOP10?? TOP 20 ??

There are only two teams that I think we may be outclassed .....Bama and Clemson. But if we're clicking on all cylinders we stand a good chance against even those two

With all the other top teams we stand as good a chance as any other "elite" team.

That puts us in pretty good company. So while we must continue to improve, we are far from being on the outside looking in....winning the ACC and beating Clemson is not impossible for us.

I would say top 5. Bama, UGA, Clemson, Oklahoma, OSU.

Great. Since you don’t like off-season chatter and summertime hypothicating, why don’t you just dismiss yourself from Eye in the Sky until August, because that’s all that there is besides recruiting until then.
