I believe that is the point being made though. This statement is not singularly tied to this season only, but across many seasons over the last decade. There were about 3-4 seasons where Alabama really was the only legitimate contender in the SEC with many other being garbage, but the SEC hype train didn't end and SEC fanboys would try to have me believe the SEC was dominating everyone.

8 teams in the SEC with 9 wins means SEC teams are just amazing and beat each other up. 8 teams in any other conference with 9 wins means the conference sucks. That's the issue. SEC will get credit as a great conference and get extra attention with ok results. Other conferences would not with the same result.

In the last 10 years, Nick Saban has accounted for 5 championships and *Urban Meyer accounted for 1.
In the last 15 years, Nick Saban has accounted for 6 championships and Urban Meyer has accounted for 3.

*The one for Urby in the last 10 was not as a coach in the SEC.

The SEC had the benefit of two all-time great talent collectors/coaches over the last two decades. Those two men accounted for 8 of the SEC's 10 championships over the past 20 years. That's a lot of titles, but it still kinda boils down to a couple guys.

The SEC was on a roll from about 2007 - 2013/14. The conference enjoyed a nearly decade long run of being HEAD & SHOULDERS above the rest. Since the time of Urban's first retirement, the conference kind of came back to earth a little. Remember that was right around the time E$ECPN first signed that multi-billion dollar contract with the SEC. That launched that league into a different stratosphere money wise and the league enjoyed the benefits on the field, on television (constant hyping and additional airtime), and then in recruiting.

The past five or so years, I want to say the ACC actually had a winning record against the SEC straight up a few times and the SEC has been less than automatic in bowls (an area they dominated in that 7 year run). The narrative won't change until there's another challenger (or two) in the ACC. That's where the SEC propaganda machine gets rolling. That 2nd and 3rd team that can be hyped up means that the whole league is good to kids and casual fans. Then the ESPN machine starts blowing up their @$$3s and next thing you know... SEC! SEC! SEC!

i mean we have guys in here defending a 5-7 tenn team. That is EXACTLY the point im trying to make. Sh*t crazy....

Nope this is who i am.lol

I'm smoking these sec clones out...and as you can see them steaming in this thread short circuiting currently defending.
I feel ya man just a rough year to talk ACC. Yeah Clemson is incredible but the conference sucked. Watched GT get the **** kicked out them by Minnesota....then remember we lost to GT

Ugh.

I'm not putting us directly in comparison. We esssentially fired our coach, and GT coach stepped down. In a down year in the acc...the conference still had the best team in the nation. Pac 10 is some sh*t, Big 12 is a bunch of clowns, Big 10 is a joke...yet folks scream about the Acc yearly.

Seems the Coastal is putting together some solid coaches. Suddenly some of the other division is looking suspect. I think the changes made on the Coastal side will start to pay off soon.

Mack Brown is going to be interesting. He's gonna get them some relevance again or he's past his prime and he'll get chased out.

We have a ton of sec slurpers on here and in general. For whatever reason the acc doesn't get much respect. Completely dismantled the sec powerhouse. I mean they had a tougher game against the orangemem. Even dabo said post game that the acc is tough and doesn't get recognition for whatever reason. I dont care much for conference love or anything like sec inbreds but can that be put to rest.

Your right, I find it wrong that the ACC revenue payouts rank 5th amongst power 5 payouts. I believe the Max payout was to Clemson last year at about 30 Million and Miami 26 Million. Compare that to the SEC which pays out at least 40 Million per team and 60 to Alabama.

ACC Network means more $$ incoming, as well as better marketing for the conference.

The SEC got blown up bc they had a good team or two every year and then ESPN had a financial stake in the conference. Then add getting away with murder and the NCAA turning a blind eye and you have what we have today.

But honestly what difference does it make? You can only play who’s on your schedule. Let people do the talking and let the results do the walking. And ***** the ACC. They don’t care about Miami. So the only thing you should care about is this U

We had Richt retire on our watch. Mack literally came out of retirement and is older. That won't end well.

I’m no FSU fan and I realize FSU is currently down but they did win the title 6 years ago. B1G has had nobody win it in forever besides OSU.

Michigan got a share in 1997. That isn't that long ago. Otherwise we've got to acknowledge that the Canes only have one title since 1991.

Florida State is down right now but the recent recruiting level makes them eligible to rebound at any point. I'm not going to be dense enough to deny that, just like I didn't overreact to the Florida downturn of a couple of seasons ago.

You’re embarrassing your parents, dude.

You don’t defend conferences but your entire argument, and thread for that matter, is based on just that? Again, desperate!

If you only care about Miami, why does it bother you when people recognize, rightly, that the ACC sucks (oh, you’re defending sucking? Figures.)

You’re just another CIS fool.

Truth!
