ACC grant of rights explained

Maybe there is some "viability of league" clause?

Maybe some "we aren't keeping up with the market so I can leave" clause?

Not saying they are right, but awful lot of stories keep saying the same thing: ACC has a very "strong" GoR chain tied around each member.

Great if you are Syracuse or Boston College. Not so much for Clemson, Miami, et al.

What if a majority of members said "we are leaving"? Is their some vote of membership clause to change the GoR?
If 8 or more are out, it ends the gor. The issue is finding homes for all 8

Interesting tha ACC GoR agreement places a x3 current year operating budget to buyout of conference AND school forfeits media rights through 2035.

$120MM x3 = $360MM + Miami's GoR value through 2035.

That's a non-starter.

"Its pretty rock solid."

This is verrrrry interesting...

If this is correct, it only takes 6 teams to end the GOR. 6 seems entirely possible- 3 to sec, 3 to B1G.

Very interesting, & good read. I also read that “winners/losers” article by Forde & Wetzel. What a sobering take about Indiana & Rutgers FB will be making $50m more/yr than Clemson FB. FML.

where is that person getting the 6 number from? I can't think of any reason something as big as eliminating the GOR or disolving the conference would take anything less than majority at minimum (so 8), or even a supermajority (12).

Secure Notre Dame, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Stanford, and SMU. These are schools in either large media markets or big name recognition. And you know with Oregon and SMU, they will be players in the NIL game.

Push to renegotiate the TV payouts. You won't get near the 100 mil the Big 10 or SEC are paying out, but make the gap somewhat respectable as opposed to embarrassing which is what it is now. Get Disney involved. Get creative. Boost your revenue stream by getting the games on Disney+ and Hulu in addition to ESPN.

But most importantly, the ACC needs to seek out big out of conference games and WIN. Show you have the superior product.
