Former Georgia quarterback and former Clemson Eric Mac Lain have been high on the Canes all year, and they aren't turning back now. Below is a transcript of their discussion.

Aaron Murray:
Emac, I’ve got to say, you were on Miami way before I was. You were down there this summer and you told me, “This team is legit. They’re fast. They’re physical. Carson looks really **** good.” I didn’t fully buy in until about Week 2, but you were there in July. So you’re not surprised Miami’s here...

Their OL is great run blocking but they can be had in true drop back situations. Both tackles and the RG can all be susceptible to giving up pressure at much higher clips than anyone along our OL.
Ehhh. They’re good at run blocking, IMO. I’ve watched their games against decently talented DLs. No one is going to convince me PSU has a better DL or front 7 against the run than we do. Indiana’s OL didn’t run block very well in that game.

Football is matchups. Some of IU’s generalized stats don’t carry well into *this* matchup. I’d have to look at their specific numbers against OSU, PSU, and Iowa. I respect their RBs, especially Black, but I’m not favorably comparing their OL to our OL in almost any aspect.

Someone mentioned they had several injured starters along the OL for this game

I don't disagree with you. I think for as much as our offense has been memed at times for being too duo reliant and having such tight splits, it can ironically be a major key to our offense having success.

Combining our tight splits with our size advantage in the trenches should mean their stunts are less effective when we run duo and when we do run duo our double teams are able to move the LOS 2-3 yards downfield at times throughout the night.

Ole Miss may have not been elite defensively, but they have elite size and sometimes physics still matter. They do slant themselves out of the play at times, but they also have big boys that don't allow you to reset the LOS as easily when blocking, even when combo blocking. Indiana is not going to have that advantage.

The Indiana DL does move well laterally, but I am not sure how well that's going to help them vs a concept that just works vertically.

They are a good team. That's why they are in the title. Their defense on paper seems to almost be as good as Ohio States in some regards. But it does lack size and we are a duo team meaning size where size and power are what we rely on and are what are best used to stop our bread and butter.

I don't expect us to run as well on them as we did vs Texas A&M, the Indiana LB's are much better in their run fits and at tackling, but I won't be surprised at all if we end up running the ball better on Indiana than we did Ohio State. If we manage that, our offense should be able to move the ball and put up some points on them as long as we don't hurt ourselves elsewhere(penalties/turnovers).

Is my take too homerish?

I don’t think you’re being too homerish. In fact, I’ve been saying much of the same since the betting line and some of these one-sided predictions came out. I simply don’t see it. I have watched almost every snap of every CFP opponent we’ve played.

I’ve already watched every snap of 5 Indiana games. People looking at statistics are lost in the sauce. Those statistics were not achieved in *this* matchup.

For as much as I dislike playing a coin-flip game against SMU by grinding it out, I think our ability to do that is exactly what makes us difficult for OSU and Indiana. I sincerely was uncertain where we were going to get enough yards against OSU. I don’t see that same limitation against Indiana.

You laid it out pretty well with the vertical aspect of duo, but I think they’re also susceptible to counters and runs where we use jet sweep as a decoy.

They play 3 LBs an awful lot of their snaps, and while their #4 player is very good, I think the other two have limitations. Their fans seemingly talk a big game about lining up and smashing with us. I just don’t see it.

I will ask we place their safeties in some conflicts. They have one safety who just cannot run with some of our guys. I know we need that TE or Y to seal the block for duo, but I’d like to see some 4WR for spurts, too.

After what we have put on tape, I think we’re being objectively underestimated.

One thing I hate about these big games, people tend either vastly overrate and underrate groups. Not you specifically, just the media in general. Sure IU may have a great defense. But it’s more disingenuous to say we don’t have a great offensive line. Both things can be true.

IU also has played a total of two P4 teams with a top 40 offense. They’ve played 4 offenses ranked 100 or worse. Three 119 or worse. Those numbers can vastly skew a defense and their metrics. This is including the CFP. The offenses are Oregon(twice) & Ohio State.

By comparison, Miami has played 6 top 40 defenses. Anyone just assuming IU is going to shut us down, minus self inflicted issues which are my biggest worry, are letting insane recent bias play a factor here.

Lu have you been able to watch their MSU game? I watched it after seeing they passed for just under 300 yards.. They were one of only B1G team with an actual QB, who made them pay for triggering down hill soo HARD from LB spot.. Chiles and crew ran a bunch of play action and Dagger concepts that they just KILLED them with early (instead of turnovers first play they got fg and TD).. Also they ran RB screens alot, spammed them with RB screens actually. We dont do screens at all but we used dagger a ton, especially against Ole Miss even last drive.

Will be interesting to see how we attack them, they are very sound but that was a good game to see what an actual QB could do.. Compared to the rest of B1G dregs could do

I haven’t watched that one. Maybe I’ll check it out next. PSU had basically two worthy players (their RB and that WR from Cuse) on their offense, and they gave them problems. Check that game out. Again, would love to see what they do against some of the 4WR stuff we ran in the middle of the season. Would also like to see what they do against Mali in the backfield (not Malicat) with Fletcher.

Just adding link with all plays but fluff cut out

1 pick, 4 sacks, hold Indiana to 100 yards rushing. We win the game. and don’t have 9 penalties for 135 yards 🙄
