A tidbit on TE recruiting

For a while, it looked like things might be cooling with four-star TE Anthony Cartwright (Detroit, Michigan). He showed up injured on his unofficial visit, and with TE commit DeMarcus Deroche (Cardinal Gibbons) already rehabbing, it gave some people pause.

Per sources, the staff has done some digging on Cartwright’s ankle and they have less concerns headed into his OV. He should be full go for his senior season of high school.

Don’t be surprised if Miami turns up the heat. They really like the player.

I’ve been a fan of Cartwright. Very physical dude.
 
Lets see some plays to the TE in big moments or use Lofton as a YAC machine. Block and dump off. Yes we did well with Arroyo but its been a slog otherwise. Lashlee was a beast at scheming up the TE.

Why would we have plays to the TE in big moments when we have say better talent at WR and RB? We don't have an Arroyo-type talent on the roster. Maybe Mueller gets there.

I think @DMoney had TE 2 (a possible senior eval or now maybe Cartwright??) as part of the 20? I may be wrong...

I personally think we are in the 21 to 23 range (23 may be pushing it)…I've just heard the small class thing other times and we go over that number.

At the time before the last 2 commits. It was the last 5 spots was for LB, DT, Wr, DE, S. They got the LB and DT

I could see us adding 4-5 more guys- 5 star edge, WR, DB, TE and then maybe one more wildcard that they evaluate in the fall

That and we won’t turn away talent at the end of the cycle, and as we know there are a lot of coaches on the hot seat out there. I still think we end at 25 not including the possibility of a bunch of three star types who are replacing our PWO ranks.

Lol… We killed it recruiting TE last year. 2 has been the target all along this year. Where do you goofs come from?

lol… where did anyone say anything about last year, or the fact that the staff wants to take 2 TE’s this year? We’ve struck out on all the top tight end targets so far. Doesn’t mean they still won’t land a guy, but I like the way Dmoney tries to throw the smoke screen.
