A small but telling sign of team character

All these scrubs here last two years calling it "bro ball" now understanding it's the foundation to be successful and it cannot be replaced

Even Riddick, who spent most of the night trying to gargle USF, mentioned that Miami is a very unselfish team, and that will serve them very well.
Gargle USF? That guy is the most complimentary of Miami that I’ve ever seen.

As for the play, that’s our star WR putting it out there like that in essentially garbage time with the game already pretty much done.

I don’t know who gets the credit or it’s just noticeable since we’ve been successful this season, but the down field blocking has been A+.

For a true freshman at that. Putting your body on the line for a new guy like that is impressive.

First time I saw X live was at Bethune in '22. He was every bit the coach on the field. During pregame warm-ups he was making sure everyone was lined up right and doing the drills right. No one argued with him or shrugged him off. When he went down that season I knew we were in a bunch of trouble.

He literally had no choice but to praise us. Of course he did, we won the game 50-15 and dominated the entire 2nd half of the game. He would have had to remain quiet and not do his job to not praise us while we are whooping another team. We forced that praise. Now go back and listen to the first half of their commentary, aside from the mandated hyping and acknowledgment of Cam Ward since he is a Heisman candidate, Riddick was literally rooting for South Florida to beat us. He was calling out everything they should do to be successful on offense and defense on a play by play basis in the 1st half, and he was not doing that with us. He openly played into the upset narrative and was anticipating it in his coverage until We forced him out of it.

He finished raving about us because we forced that reality on him and he had to abandon the narrative. He was definitely trying to drum up the upset hype for tv viewers.

He had to be. Lord knows van dyke had no interest in leading

He’s a very savvy blocker. The way he always gets at least a chip on the defender with his back is so subtle but effective.

I think Van Dyke needed leadership. Some kids aren't built for that, doesn't mean that they can't be stellar players, even at QB.
You see how engaged Cam is on the sidelines? Not just with the offense, with everyone. Van ACL just sat and sulked.
